7/6/2017
8:54 a.m.: An officer responded to Beacon Street and Borland
Street for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The motor vehicle
was travelling eastbound on Beacon and began to turn right onto Borland Street
when he struck the bicyclist. The operator was issued a citation for failure to
yield for a bicycle.
12:43 p.m.: While on patrol in the area of Amory Park, an
officer observed a subject known to him. He requested a warrant check from
dispatch that confirmed an active default warrant for shoplifting by
concealing. The subject was placed under arrest.
1:21 p.m.: A citizen reported to the front desk that a watch
was stolen from his motor vehicle. He stated that he parked his vehicle on
Babcock Street on 6/6 and between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. his watch was stolen. The
vehicle had been left unlocked and the driver’s door was open when he returned
to the vehicle. There was no damage to the vehicle.
3:42 p.m.: While travelling behind an ambulance on a call
for a medical emergency, an officer observed a vehicle on Parkway Road fail to
pull to the right of the ambulance. A traffic stop was conducted; the operator
was informed he would receive a citation in the mail, and the officer returned
to the medical emergency. Later, while filling out the citation it was found
that the operator’s license was suspended. He will be issued citations for
Operating After Suspension of License and Fail to Pull to Right and Stop for
Emergency Vehicle.
7/7/2016
12:33 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Longwood
Avenue for a larceny report. Upon arrival, the reporting party stated he had
found that the locked wooden door to the storage units and his own storage unit
door were broken and open. Looking inside, the reporting party found his
bicycle was missing. He stated the last time he had seen it was approximately
three weeks ago. The area is only accessible from inside of the building. The
victim is unsure if anything else was taken. Detective follow up has been
requested.
1:48 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to an address on
Columbia Street for a reported hit and run. The reporting party stated that
between 1:00 and 1:40 p.m. her vehicle was struck and damaged. When she
returned to her vehicle she found damage to the driver’s side wheel well and door.
6:30 p.m.: While travelling along River Road an officer
observed three graffiti tags on the rear of a building on Brookline Avenue.
Another officer stated he had not observed the tags on previous evenings. The
building itself is vacant. Similar tags were observed on a utility box at the
corner of Brookline Avenue and Aspinwall Avenue. The tags were photographed and
reported.
7/8/2017
10:20 a.m.: The officer at the front desk of the police
station was approached by a citizen who reported she lost her wallet in the
vicinity of the front parking area of the swimming pool on Tappan Street. The
reporting party stated she parked her car in a parking space at approximately
5:15 p.m. and when she left at approximately 7:00 p.m. she realized she did not
have her wallet. She believes it may have fallen out of her pocket while
exiting the vehicle or she may have left it on the roof of the vehicle. The
party’s credit and debit cards have been cancelled and have no unauthorized
activity.
10:02 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Harvard Street at
Linden Street for a motor vehicle accident. It was stated that motor vehicle
one was parked on Harvard Street and went to pull into traffic when a vehicle
passed her and she made contact with a second vehicle which then made contact
with a parked car. The officer assisted in the exchange of information between
operators and all parties were advised to contact their insurance companies and
file a Motor Vehicle Crash Operator Report. The first motor vehicle was towed
from the scene.
An officer received an abandoned bicycle from the Brookline
Highway Department. It was retrieved from Davis Avenue and was tagged with a
notice of removal on 5/19. The bicycle has been placed into bulk evidence.
7/9/2017
9:46 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on South
Street for a B&E of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that her purse was
taken from her car some time overnight. She stated she had returned home at
approximately 12:25 a.m. and went to retrieve her purse from her vehicle. She
found the passenger door ajar and found the purse to be missing. The vehicle
was parked in a driveway and the party states she thought she locked the car,
but there were no obvious signs of a break. The vehicle was processed.
5:40 p.m.: Officers observed a vehicle parked in a bike lane
on Beacon Street. A query of the vehicle’s registration revealed it did not
have a valid inspection sticker. A vehicle was stopped at the intersection of
Carlton Street and Ivy Street. During the stop, the passenger of the vehicle
was found to have two default warrants. He was placed under arrest for the
warrants and issued a citation for No Seatbelt. The operator of the vehicle was
also issued a citation for Failing to Submit MV for Inspection.
9:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the intersection of
Washington Street and Salisbury Road for a report of a hit and run motor
vehicle property damage accident. Upon arrival, the victim stated she had been
travelling on Washington Street approaching the intersection at Salisbury Road
and stopped for a pedestrian when she was rear ended. The other vehicle then fled
from the scene, but the pedestrian was able to obtain a license plate number
and description of the driver. A query of the license plate revealed the
identity of the owner and she was mailed a citation for leaving the scene of a
property damage accident and following too closely.
7/10/2017
2:59 a.m.: Officers responded to the intersection of Beacon
Street and Carlton Street for a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, the
operator stated he was travelling south on Carlton Street when he got a flat
tire and lost control of his vehicle. As a result, he travelled onto the
sidewalk and struck a Town of Brookline No Parking Sign. The sign was knocked
down and the vehicle sustained minor damage to the front bumper. The damage was
photographed and the operator was sent on his way.
7:28 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Boylston Street for
a hit and run accident. The reporting party stated at approximately 7:10 a.m.
he was pulled over at an address on Boylston Street for a garbage pickup when
he opened his door to get out of the truck and the door was struck by the
mirror of another vehicle. He stated the driver pulled over to adjust her
mirror and he believed she would approach him to discuss the incident, but
drove off. A motor vehicle crash report was filed and the victim contacted his
supervisor.
9:00 a.m.: An officer responded to an address on Stetson
Street for a past B&E of two motor vehicles. Upon arrival, the reporting
party stated both of his vehicles were broken into. The vehicles were parked in
the driveway on 7/9 at approximately 11:30 p.m. He believed one of the vehicles
had been locked, but when he returned to his vehicle at approximately 9:00 a.m.
he observed the driver side door to be slightly ajar and the contents of the
glove compartment and center console were on the passenger seat. The second vehicle
had been moved to the street and the reporting party stated the vehicle had
been left unlocked and appeared to be rummaged through. The only items stolen
were coins. An envelope from one of the vehicles was submitted into evidence.
9:45 a.m.: A party turned in two bullets he located at an
address on Freeman Street at approximately 8:00 and 11:55 p.m. the previous
evening. He informed the property manager and the ammunition has been placed
into evidence.
9:46 p.m.: Officers responded to an address on Dwight Street
for a past B&E of a motor vehicle. The victim stated at approximately 9:30
a.m. he noticed the passenger door to his vehicle was ajar and his vehicle
appeared to be rummaged through. He found several items were missing and
contacted the police. He reported he last observed the vehicle around 11:30 p.m.
the previous evening and that it was left unlocked. He has a camera that faces
his parking spot and was able to retrieve footage of two males entering the
vehicle.
10:11 p.m.: Officers responded to an address on Browne
Street for a past B&E of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the reporting party
stated at approximately 10:00 a.m. she returned to her vehicle and noticed it
had been rummaged through. She stated the vehicle was unlocked and some cash
was missing. The vehicle had been parked the previous evening at approximately
11:00 p.m.
A citizen reported his car had been broken into overnight.
He stated that he parked his vehicle in the rear of an address on Babcock
Street at approximately 10:00 p.m. on 7/9. When he returned to the vehicle the
next morning at approximately 7:30 a.m., he found the visors had been moved down
and the glove box was opened. At the time, nothing has been reported stolen or missing.
He stated he locked the vehicle, but when he started the car the next morning,
the door ajar light and alarm were on.
5:33 p.m.: An officer responded to an address on Babcock
Street for a past B&E of a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated she
had locked her vehicle when she parked it the previous evening at 6:00 p.m.,
but had left her windows open 1-2 inches. The next day at approximately 8:00
a.m. when she returned to the vehicle she found her things had been rummaged
through and the doors were unlocked. A GPS had been taken. The victim pointed
out a handprint to officers that had not been on the vehicle the previous day
and the vehicle was processed. While on scene, officers located another vehicle
that appeared to be rummaged through. The owner was located and he explained that
he had parked the vehicle sometime in the afternoon on 7/9 and had not returned
to it. The vehicle was found unlocked and he stated he believed he locked the
vehicle, but may have accidentally unlocked it. The vehicle was processed and
the party does not believe anything was taken from the car.
A citizen reported she was a victim of internet fraud
involving her bank accounts. The victim received an email about her account
from her bank and upon contacting them found someone had withdrawn all her
money in her checking and savings accounts on 7/4 and 7/5. She stated she did
not authorize these transfers. She is currently working with her bank to
correct the incident and was advised to contact the credit bureaus and FTC
Identity Theft Web Page.
7:05 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to an address on
Aspinwall Avenue for a past larceny of a bicycle. The victim stated he had
placed his bicycle in a bike rack unlocked at approximately 3:00 p.m. and when
he returned at approximately 7:00 p.m. the bicycle was gone. The officer then
spoke to an employee at the address who stated he would provide video surveillance
footage or photos pertaining to the case. The reporting party was given a
courtesy transport to his residence.
