10/12-10/13

Shoplifting:

Occurred on 10/12 at 12:50 PM – Walgreens (1324 Beacon St.)

Officers responded to a report of a shoplifter. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a blue jersey with the number “83” on it. A suspect fitting the description was stopped in front of the Coolidge Corner Theatre at 290 Harvard St. The Walgreens employee who followed the suspect outside positively identified the subject as the one who shoplifted in the store.

The suspect was confronted in the store when the employees noticed he had hidden an item by tucking it in his belt behind his back under the jersey. That item was later discovered to be a 16 oz Red Bull energy drink. During the confrontation, the suspect dropped 2 packages of 8-pack Energizer AA batteries and offered to return a 9V Energizer battery. Then the suspect rushed out of the store, and the police were notified. The suspect was arrested.
