March 23rd

Arrest

Occurred between 4:35PM (3/12) and 2:28PM (3/23) – 155 Harvard St.

Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a local Stop & Shop. The manager stated that he had watched the suspect place numerous grocery items into bags and attempt to leave. When the suspect saw the manager watching her, she dropped the bags and tried to flee but was stopped. Upon identifying the suspect, police found that she had four warrants for her arrest. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest for shoplifting and the warrants.

Occurred 6:47PM (3/23) – 345 Harvard Ave.

Police executed a traffic stop for an expired license plate. Upon identifying the driver, officers found that he had a warrant out of Newton for motor vehicle violations and the driver was subsequently arrested.

Fraud

Occurred between 3:23PM (3/9) and 5:33PM (3/10) – Worthington Rd.

Police responded to a report of identity theft. The caller, the victim’s wife, stated that a Brookline Bank employee contacted her regarding a suspicious fax that their office had received. The fax requested a change of billing address and used her husband’s social security number and date of birth. Days later she found that someone had contacted the bank pretending to be her husband and requested his mortgage information. Police are following up on the case.

Breaking and Entering and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Occurred between 7:30PM (3/22) and 11:45PM (3/23) – 10 Brookline Place

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers noticed that the rear passenger window was smashed. The victim stated that he had returned to his vehicle to find the window smashed and his GPS unit and laptop computer missing. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred 5:19PM (3/23) – St. Marys St./Euston St.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had just occurred. The caller stated that she was walking down the street when she heard the sound of smashing glass. She turned to see what had happened and saw a person wearing a blue hooded jacket and earphones running from the directions of the noise. Officers found the front passenger window of a vehicle smashed and after contacting the owner, it was discovered that an iTouch mp3 player was missing. Police are following up on the case.

Larceny

Occurred between 4:45PM (3/23) and 5:17PM (3/23) – Harvard St.

Police responded to a report of shoplifting at TJ Maxx department store. Upon arrival, a loss prevention employee stated that he had a video of the suspect in the store stealing perfume. The suspect was subsequently arrested for shoplifting.
