Larceny

• Occurred between 12:00PM(3/1) and 12:00PM(3/17) – A resident of the town

Victim reports that a charity collector came to the door asking for money. The victim wrote the suspect a check for $72. On March 17^th the victim received a phone call from a bank in New York, stating that this same check was cashed and cleared for $23,000. A copy of the check was obtained and the handwriting was not the victims.

We would like you the community to exercise caution when using your checks. There are instances such as the one above, but there are also other ways of drowning out your account using the routing number, account number, your address and name. Please exercise caution to who you are issuing your checks to.
