Monday, July 21

ANIMAL BITE

An individual on Marion Street was bitten on their finger by a squirrel. They were advised to clean the wound and seek medical attention. 

BAT EXPOSURE

Officers and Bayside Wildlife responded to a case of possible bat exposure on Davis Ave. The homeowners were advised to seek medical attention and get the rabies vaccine if exposed to the bat. 

ID FRAUD

An individual reported that they received mail to their residence on Lagrange Street from the Department of Unemployment Assistance stating they had a past-due balance. However, they are not unemployed and were informed by the DUA hotline that the mail is fraudulent. The reporting party was advised to monitor their accounts and contact the Social Security Administration.

ID FRAUD 

An individual reported a case of fraud at the front desk of the Brookline Police Department. They stated they received a notification from a company with which they do not have an account. It was discovered that an account had been fraudulently opened in their name using an address different from their own. They have not lost any monetary value at this time. 

SHOPLIFTING

A case of shoplifting involving two suspects on Beacon Street was reported to police.

Tuesday, July 22

CAR BREAK

Officers responded to report of a past larceny from a motor vehicle on Ackers Avenue near Warren Fields. The reporting party did not realize that their wallet was missing from the vehicle until he was notified of fraudulent activity on his accounts. They believe that the wallet was stolen during the time they were parked on that street and have cancelled their credit cards.  

VEHICLE FIRE

A vehicle traveling inbound on Boylston Street caught fire due to technical issues. The driver was able to jump out of their truck and was unharmed. 

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

Individuals on Westbourne Terrace have reported multiple fraudulent charges and purchases on their credit cards. 

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

Officers responded to a suspected case of malicious damage on Woodland Rd. 

Wednesday, July 23

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

An individual on Beacon Street was reported to have thrown a dark bottle through the window of a business, causing it to shatter as the suspect walked away. The suspect was identified and arrested on Thursday, July 24th. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Officers took note of a case of suspicious activity on Dummer St.

CAR BREAK

An individual reported a case of breaking and entering into their vehicle. On this particular day, the car had been parked on numerous streets around Brookline, with a bag in the backseat containing a laptop. When the individual returned to their residence, the bag was missing even though the doors/windows had been locked. The individual believes that the thief must have entered their backseat through the trunk. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Officers received report of suspicious activity regarding an Uber driver on Hartman Rd. The Uber driver asked the reporting party personal questions and tried to coerce them into smelling a white substance. 

Thursday, July 24

BURGLARY

An incident of a residential breaking and entering was reported on Yarmouth Rd. 

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

Officers responded to a possible breaking entering on Sears Rd. 

Friday, July 25

MALICIOUS DAMAGE 

Officers received a report of a possible breaking and entering on Beacon Street. The glass door of the business was cracked but not fully shattered. Additionally, the ground was littered with broken pieces of red glass, making the scene appear more like a case of malicious damage.

MV THEFT

An individual reported a motor vehicle theft on Valley Road. The car had been parked in their driveway, left unlocked, with the keys on the center console. While officers continue to search for the vehicle, they remind the public to lock their cars and take their keys with them.

PACKAGE THEFT

A case of package theft was reported on Pleasant St. The reporting party stated that one of their packages had been tampered with and another package was missing. 

CAR BREAK

Two vehicles on Fairway Road were broken into, and the owners' belongings were disturbed. Both cars had been left unlocked.

Saturday, July 26

FRAUD

An individual reported a case of fraud to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department. The reporting party received multiple text messages indicating that one of their accounts had been hacked. They then spoke on the phone with someone claiming to assist with the issue; however, this individual was later determined to be a scammer. The victim transferred funds to a website provided by the scammer but was able to lock their bank account before any money was withdrawn.

FRAUD

Another individual reported a case of fraud to Brookline Police. The individual's savings account was hacked and funds were sent to a business the victim didn't recognize. 

ABANDONED PROPERTY

Officers received report of an abandoned black bike on Clark Rd. It was transported back to the station and placed in the bicycle cage for safekeeping. 

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Officers found bullet casings on Grove St. The majority of the surrounding residents have not reported hearing anything out of the ordinary, however two individuals shared that they heard loud bangs, but didn't call the police at that time. 

Sunday, July 27

MALICIOUS DAMAGE

A parked vehicle on Beacon Street was keyed in multiple areas.

DISTURBANCE

An individual reported being approached on Commonwealth Avenue by someone who asked them to purchase marijuana.
