On November 22, officers observed a male operating a scooter on Beacon St. unsafely cutting off other vehicles. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found that the operator had a revoked license. The man was placed under arrest.

On November 23, an officer was dispatched to Harvard Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim reported that he had left his bike on the side of his building the night before and when he returned for it, it was gone.

In the evening of November 23, officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a larceny report. The victim stated she had put her belongings into a locker and when she returned for them she found that items had been taken from her purse. The matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a past shoplifting report. The store manager stated that earlier in the day a man had entered the store, placed items into a bag, and left without paying. The incident is being investigated.

On November 24, while patrolling the area of Harvard St. and Beacon St., officers ran a random query of a vehicle and found that the registered owner had an active warrant in his name. The officers conducted a traffic stop, verified the identity of the driver, and placed him under arrest.

On November 25, officers responded to a business on Harvard St. for a larceny report. The reporting party stated that a man had entered the store, taken the money from the tip jar, and left the business. The matter is under investigation.

In the early morning of November 26, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Harvard St. and found that the license plates had been cancelled and were originally issued to a different vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On November 26, an officer witnessed a vehicle drive past a stop sign on Green St. without stopping. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had an active warrant in his name. The driver was placed under arrest.

On November 27, an officer responded to Beacon St. for a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that the rear driver’s side window of the vehicle had been smashed and items were taken from the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

On November 28, while patrolling the area of Coolidge Corner an officer was approached by a store owner who stated an employee had told her a woman was attempting to shoplift from the store. The officer spoke to the employee at the Beacon St. store who stated that a woman had placed items into a bag and was attempting to conceal them. The woman was still in the store and after making contact with her, officers found that the woman had active warrants in her name. The woman was placed under arrest.

On November 29, an officer responded to Tappan St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that her backpack and jacket had been taken from inside the business. The matter is under investigation.

Early in the morning an officer responded to Harvard St. for a report of an unarmed robbery attempt. The victim stated that a man approached him in a ski mask and asked for money at which point he had called the police. Officers in the area encountered a man fitting the description of the suspect and were able to confirm it was the right man. He was placed under arrest for attempt to commit a crime—unarmed robbery.

1:20pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched a residence on Highland Rd for a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. On scene, the victim reported parking her vehicle at approximately 11:30am and went for a walk. When she returned to the vehicle, the victim discovered the contents of her pocketbook had been emptied out and her wallet missing.  The vehicle was left unlocked

10:45am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a local gym on Commonwealth Ave for a report of a past larceny. The victim reported, leaving his bag in an unsecured locker in the men’s locker room. Upon returning to the locker, he noticed the bag was missing.

On November 16, officers responded to the area of Harvard St. and Aspinwall Ave. for a report of a man in need of medical attention. The man was found to be OK and an investigation found the man to be in possession of illegal drugs. The man was placed under arrest for possession of Class B and Class C substances.

An officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that he had parked his car overnight in rear of his building and that when he went to it the next day, his car was on milk crates and the tires were gone. The matter is under investigation.

On November 15, an officer was dispatched to Marion St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that when he went to his car that morning he found that all of the tires had been removed and the car was left on milk crates. The matter is under investigation.

In the morning of November 15, officers responded to an alarm from a bank on Boylston Street. Employees stated there was no weapon shown and no injuries. They were able to provide officers with descriptions of two men who reportedly robbed the bank. The matter is currently being investigated.

3:59pm: While monitoring traffic on the corner of Powell and Beacon Street, an officer observed a vehicle accelerate at a high rate of speed and continue to increase in speed as it approached St. Paul Street. The officer activated his emergency blue lights and safely initiated a traffic stop. A query of the vehicles information revealed the owner of the car had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer approached the vehicle and asked the motorist for his license and registration, which confirmed he was the owner.  The individual was placed under arrest without incident.

On November 10, an officer responded to Commonwealth Ave. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that items of his had been stolen from a locker within the building. The matter is under investigation.

On November 11, an officer responded to Wolcott Rd. for a report of a credit card scam. The reporting party stated that she had received multiple phone calls from a male subject who claimed to be a family member. The male subject reportedly stated that he was being held in jail and needed money for bail. The incident was confirmed as fraud and is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Brookline Ave. and Aspinwall Ave. for a report of a bicycle theft. The victim stated that he had left his bike leaning against a tree while taking photos of the area when he turned and saw a man ride off on his bike. The matter is under investigation.

On November 12 during a routine patrol, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle travelling on Cypress St. and found that the registered owner had an active warrant in his name. The officer conducted a field stop, confirmed the identity of the driver, and placed the man under arrest.

On November 13, an officer was dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of shoplifting. The reporting party stated he had seen a man enter the store and take items without paying. The matter is under investigation.

On November13, officers were dispatched to LaGrange St. for a report of a two car accident. One of the drivers stated that her vehicle had been struck from behind by another vehicle which had left the scene. The woman was able to give police the license plate number of the other vehicle and police were able to locate the second driver. While in contact with the driver, officers noticed the smell of alcohol coming off of the woman and that she had glassy, bloodshot eyes. Based on this information, the woman was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and leaving the Scene of an Accident.

6:50pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to Gerry Rd. for a report of larceny.  The victim’s reported she and her son had left a saxophone unintended in an office on Independence Drive, on Friday, 11/4/2016. When they arrived to retrieve the saxophone, they discovered the saxophone missing.

8:18am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Gardner Rd. for a report of stolen tires from a motor vehicle.  The victim reported parking the vehicle in her assigned parking space on 11/3/2016. On her arrival back to vehicle on 11/7/2016, she discovered the tires missing from her vehicle. The victim was advised to contact her insurance company.

On November 2, an officer was dispatched to Marion St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had been expecting a package that was reported as delivered to the foyer of her building yet she never received it. The matter is under investigation.

In the evening of November 2, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle traveling on Babcock St. and found that the status of the vehicle was revoked and the registered owner’s license was suspended. The officer initiated a traffic stop, confirmed the identity of the driver, and placed him under arrest.

On November 3, an officer observed a vehicle driving on St. Paul St. with no front plate or inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver was placed under arrest for operating with a revoked license, operating an uninspected motor vehicle, and failure to display a front license plate.

While assigned to Coolidge Corner, an officer observed a vehicle rear end another car. While speaking to the driver of the vehicle who had hid the other car, it was found that the driver’s license had been revoked. The driver was placed under arrest.

In the evening of November 3, Brookline Dispatch gave out a call of man with a gun at a business on Beacon Street. An employee stated that the man had written on a card that he wanted her to empty the register drawer and that he had a gun. The woman was able to give a description of the suspect and told them that the man had fled towards Brookline Village. While searching for the suspect, officers located a man fitting the description inside of a building on Washington Street. The officers placed the suspect under arrest for Armed Robbery by means of a Firearm and Breaking and Entering.

On November4, an officer was dispatched to Freeman St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that a package had been stolen from the unsecured front foyer of her building. The matter is under investigation.

A man came into the police station to report a past larceny. The victim stated that multiple items had been taken from his work on Newton Street. The incident is being investigated.

On November 5, an officer was dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a report of a shoplifting. An employee stated that he had observed a male enter the store and exhibit suspicious behavior. After the unidentified man left, the employee reviewed security footage and found that the man had taken items from the store without paying. The matter is under investigation.

On November 6, an officer was dispatched to a business on Commonwealth Ave. for a shoplifting report. The store manager reported that the he had witnessed a man place several items into a backpack at which point he contacted the police. While waiting for the police to arrive, the manager confronted the man who discarded the backpack and left the store. The matter is under investigation.

The victim stated, on Friday, 10/28/2016 at approximately 8:00am she had locked her bike to pole on Greenough St. She returned at approximately 2:00pm and found her bicycle missing. On October 28, an officer was dispatched to Heath St. for a report of malicious damage to an automobile. The victim stated that sometime during the night his passenger side mirror was broken. The matter is under investigation.

A woman came into the police department to report malicious damage to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that a substance that appeared to be feces had been smeared on the driver’s side and hood of her car. The matter is being investigated.

Early in the morning of October 29, an officer observed a vehicle speed through a red light on Boylston Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On October 30, a report of larceny came in from a business on Harvard Street. Based on the description from the caller, officers stopped the suspect in the area. A detective responded to the store and reviewed the surveillance footage with the reporting party. From the footage it was found that the suspect had taken items from the store without paying as reported. The surveillance footage also showed the same man taking items from the store at two different times on October 22. Based on this information, the man was placed under arrest for two counts of Larceny over $250 and one count of Larceny under $250.

In the evening of October 30, an officer responded to Gardner Rd. for a report of breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. The victim stated his car had been parked in an open garage since Thursday and when he returned to his car on Sunday he found that items were missing from the center console, backseat, and trunk of the car. The matter is under investigation.

In the evening of October 26, an officer observed a vehicle traveling with a broken front headlight. The officer ran a query of the vehicle and found that it had not been inspected. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of Babcock and Dwight Streets. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a suspended license and was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninspected motor vehicle and for defective equipment.

On October 24, officers were dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of an intoxicated male walking on the hood and roof of a parked car. Officers located the man and he was placed under arrest for malicious damage of property and disorderly conduct.

While observing traffic in the area of Grove St.  and Newton St. an officer saw a vehicle make an illegal left turn. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver had a revoked license. The driver was placed under arrest.

On October 25, an officer was dispatched to Walnut St. for a report of a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that when she came out to her car that morning, she found that the glove box handle was broken, the center console had been pried open, and items were missing from her car. The matter is under investigation.

In the evening of October 25, an officer was dispatched to Elm St. for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that items were missing from her car and that she had found a set of keys that didn’t belong to her on the passenger seat. The incident is being investigated.

On October 19 while on patrol, an officer was approached by a woman who wanted to report a larceny. The woman stated that she had locked her bike to a pole outside of a business on Beacon St. earlier that day and that when she returned for it, the bike and lock were gone. The matter is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a store on Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. The store supervisor said that a man had been in the store and took items without paying. The incident is still being investigated.

On October 20, an officer received a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that his son’s bike had been stolen from bike rack on Greenough St. where it had been locked up earlier that day. The matter is under investigation.

On October 21, an officer responded to Dale St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that his bike had been stolen the day before from a bike rack on Greenough Street. The incident is being investigated.

On October 22, an officer was dispatched to Harvard St. for a report of shoplifting. Employees reported seeing a man enter the store, walk around for a while, and then leave. Believing he may have been involved with a previous incident of shoplifting over the summer, the employees reviewed surveillance footage and saw that the man had taken items without paying. The matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to Pond Ave. to speak to a resident about a possible Town By-Law Violation. While speaking with resident, it was found that he had an active warrant. The man was placed under arrest.

3:00pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Pond Ave, for a report of a past larceny.  On scene, a security guard for the building reported a resident approached him stating two bicycles were taken from his parking space. Surveillance video shows another resident of the apartment building taking both the bikes on two separate occasions. Both parties involved were not home the time the incident was reported.  This matter is still under investigation.

11:47am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Seawall Ave, for a report of a package theft. On scene, the victim reported receiving a confirmation email from the delivery service stating his package was delivered.  On his arrival home from work, the victim discovered the package was missing.  The victim was advised to contact the delivery service to report the package stolen.

12:35pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Feneno Terrace for a report of a bike larceny. The victim reported sometime on September 28^th, her bicycle locked to a pole outside her apartment was missing.  A search of the surrounding area yielded negative results.

On scene, the victim reported on October 15^th, he had parked his Vespa scooter at the intersection of Babcock and Manchester Rd. The victim stated he had locked the front wheel of the scooter, but it was not secured to a fixed object.  A search of the surrounding area yielded negative results.

The victim stated that when she went out to her car that morning she found that the doors were unlocked, the interior had been rummaged through, and some items were missing. In the evening of the 12^th, a man came into the police station to report a larceny. The man stated that sometime in the last two weeks his front license plate was stolen. The incident is being investigated.

While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident to report his bicycle stolen.  The victim reported last seeing the bicycle unlocked next to the bleachers at Cypress field along with his camera bag.  Victim proceeded to walk around the field taking pictures.  When victim returned he noticed his bike and camera bag missing.

While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a local store on Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting.  An employee observed two males place several items into his bag.  Employee observed the two males go through the checkout line, only paying for the items in the cart.  The two males tried to leave store without paying for the other items and were confronted by the employee.  Both males left the bag inside the cart and took off in a car.  Officer made a traffic stop in front of store.  The two males were placed under arrest.

While on patrol an officer was dispatched to Washington Street for a report of a past shoplifting.  The store manager observed a women walking off with a piece of clothing.  A search of the area yielded negative results.

While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident to report a past Larceny.  Victim stated her diamond ring is missing from her resident.  Report taken.

While on patrol an officer was dispatched to a local store on Beacon Street for a report of shoplifting.  An employee observed a male conceal items.  The male will be summonsed to court.

While on patrol an officer was dispatched to Kent Street for a report of a B&E of MV and Larceny.  Victim stated he parked his car at 2100hrs.  When victim returned to his car at 2235hrs, he noticed his glove compartment was open and his wallet that contained gift cards were missing.  Victim was unsure if he locked his car.

Following a dispatched description of a suspicious male believed to have possibly been breaking into vehicles, an officer observed a male fitting the description on Winthrop Road. The officer initiated contact with the man. The man emptied his pockets and the officer observed several items consistent with those left in vehicles. Another officer searched the area and found multiple cars that were unlocked and possibly entered. One of the car owners was able to confirm that items were missing from her vehicle. The suspect was placed under arrest for Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property.

In August of 2016, the Brookline Police Department was contacted by a Human Trafficking Unit Detective from the Boston Police Department who stated there was reason to believe a house in Brookline was being used for prostitution. Following an investigation by Brookline PD a search warrant was executed for a residence on Dwight Street. On September 29, a resident was arrested for Permitting Prostitution on the Premises and Deriving Support from a Prostitute.

On September 29, an officer was dispatched to Harvard St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that she had locked her bike to a bike rack while going inside a local business and when she came out her bike was gone. The incident is under investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a residence on Cypress St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that a package, confirmed as delivered, had been stolen from her porch. The matter is under investigation.

On October 1, an officer was dispatched to Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that sometime between the evening of September 30 and the afternoon of October 1, her wallet went missing from her apartment. The incident is being investigated.

On October 2, an officer responded to Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that sometime between the night of the 1^st and the morning of the 2^nd, his phone went missing from his apartment. The incident is under investigation.

In the afternoon, an officer was dispatched to Fairway Rd. for a larceny report. The victim stated that cash was stolen from his residence and he believed it was in relation to potential buyers visiting the property for an open house on October 1^st and 2^nd. The matter is under investigation.

Indecent exposures

Yesterday afternoon we had two reported indecent exposure cases. These cases happened in the area of 12 Greenough Street at approximately 4:20-4:30PM. In both cases the victims were minors. Victims described the subject as a male, in his twenties. One victim described him as possibly Hispanic. The subject had dark, curly hair, described as medium length. The subject has a scruffy beard, described as “day old” growth. The male subject was wearing a red or orange, long-sleeved shirt. The subject had no pants or shoes as he stepped from the car in one case. In the other case he was seen sitting in the car. In both cases he did not say anything to the victims. The vehicle has been described as a sliver or white four door sedan. This is under investigation and anyone who may have seen anything is asked to call the police at 617-730-2222.

On September 28, an officer was dispatched to Clearwater Rd. for a report of a past larceny. The victims stated that items had gone missing from their home the morning before The matter is under investigation.

In the afternoon of September 28, officers responded to a store on Harvard St. for a report of a shoplifter who had just left. A witness stated that they had seen a woman pick up multiple items, place them in her bag, and leave the store without paying. Officers located a woman matching the description of the suspect and found that she had the stolen items on her with no receipt. The woman was placed under arrest for shoplifting.

While on patrol, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle driving on Harvard St. and found that the license plates were assigned to a different car. The car pulled into a loading zone on Babcock St. and parked. The officer initiated contact with the two women who had been in the car and found that the passenger was fidgety and irritated and supplied an incorrect name to the officer. After getting the correct identification of the woman, the officer found that she had 9 active arrest warrants. The woman was placed under arrest and a citation was issued to the vehicle owner for Attached Plates, being Uninsured, and being Unregistered.

While patrolling on Commonwealth Ave. an officer conducted a random query of a vehicle and found that the registered owner had a suspended license. The officer conducted a traffic stop and confirmed that the driver was the owner of the car. The driver was placed under arrest.

In the evening of September 28, an officer was dispatched to White Pl. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that her bike had gone missing from where it was left unsecured by the front steps of her residence on September 22. The matter is under investigation.

On September 27, a woman came into the police station to report a larceny. The woman stated that she had locked her bike to a pole on Cypress St. that afternoon while inside a local business. The woman said that when she came back outside approximately an hour later her bike was gone. The matter is under investigation.

11:07am: While on patrol an officer was dispatched to Pearl St. for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. On scene, the victim reported parking his car in the back of his residence at approximately 2:00pm on September 25^th. The next morning, the victim discovered his vehicle missing. The officer contacted the property management company to confirm the victim’s vehicle was not towed.

6:43pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Juniper St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. On scene, the victim reported her vehicle must of have broken into sometime between September 25^th at 2:30pm and September 26^th 6:00am. The victim went to her car and noticed the interior lights were on and the driver side door was not completely closed.  The victim reported missing a small amount of loose change in her center console.

On September 22, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at Freeman Street and Babcock Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

An officer was dispatched to a location on Harvard St. for a report of larceny. The victim stated that sometime between mid-August and September 22, multiple laptops had been taken from the building. The matter is under investigation.

On September 23, an officer was dispatched to a business on Boylston St. for a report of larceny. An employee stated that money had been stolen from her pocketbook sometime the day before. The matter is under investigation.

In the evening of September 23, an officer was dispatched to Boylston St. for a report of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. The victim stated that between 11pm on September 22 and 6am on September 23, two of his vehicles were broken into and items were taken from inside.

On September 24, officers were dispatched to Kilsyth Rd. for a report of past malicious damages to a motor vehicle. The victims stated that they had parked their vehicles the morning of September 23 and the next morning found damage to the hood, driver’s side mirror, and driver’s door of the vehicles. Earlier that morning officers received a call of people damaging cars in that area. Officers located two men who fit the description. One man fled on foot and the other, after being questioned, was placed under arrest.

A woman came into the police department to report a larceny. The woman stated that she had come home to her apartment on Park St. and found that the door was unlocked and several items were missing. The matter is under investigation.

Package Theft Advisory

Over the weekend there were multiple reports of packages being stolen from residences in Brookline. Locations of thefts included Park Street, St. Paul Street, and Euston Street. Residents are advised to lock foyer/lobby doors when possible, have packages that are being delivered require a signature, and/or have packages sent to another location if worried about theft.

While walking through a medical building in town, an officer noticed a man in the hallway in need of medical attention. After speaking to the man, the man attempted to flee the area. The officer stopped the man and found that he had two outstanding warrants. The man was placed under arrest.

On September 21, an officer was dispatched to Longwood Avenue for a larceny report. The victim stated that sometime between the morning of Friday the 16^th and Saturday the 17^th her bike was taken from the hallway inside her residential building. The matter is under investigation.

An officer responded to Ivy St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that three packages had been stolen from the outside of her home over the course of the last week. The incidents are being investigated.

On September 20, an officer responded to a building on Heath St. for a report of a larceny. The victim stated that sometime between the morning of the 19^th and the morning of the 20^th some of the contents of her wallet were removed. The matter is under investigation.

In the morning of September 20, an officer was dispatched to a business on Boylston St. for a report of a past larceny. The owner of the business stated that since May and as recently as September 18, multiple items have been stolen from his store. The incidents are being investigated.

While traveling on Harvard St. an officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver was operating with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

8:30am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Harvard St. for a report of a theft of a bicycle report. On scene, the victim reported placing her bicycle in the back of her garage, unlocked and with the garage doors open. The next morning, the victim discovered her bicycle missing. The victim provided a description and serial number of the bicycle.

4:15pm: An officer on patrol and was dispatched to a report of a stolen bicycle. On scene, the victim reported leaving her children’s bikes unlocked against her house. No surveillance cameras were found in the immediate area.

On September 15, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Strathmore Rd. for a report of burglary. The victims stated that they had left their residence that morning and returned in the evening to find that both the front and back doors were open and several items were missing from the apartment. The matter is under investigation.

September 15, a man came into the police station to report an instance of larceny. The man stated that a package had been stolen from the foyer of his apartment building on Beacon Street. FedEx confirmed that the package had been delivered yet the man never received it.

In the evening of September 15, an officer responded to Harvard Street for a larceny report. The caller reported seeing two men cut the lock off a bike which had been attached to a meter on the street and take the bike. The matter is under investigation.

On September 16, an officer responded to a residence on Fairbanks St. for a larceny report. The victim stated that over the last two weeks she had placed multiple online orders which were confirmed as being delivered to the residence yet she never received them.

An officer was dispatched to Lancaster Terrace for a larceny report. The victim stated that two bikes had been stolen from outside her residence between the night of September 15^th and the morning of September 16^th.

On September 17^th, an officer was dispatched to Beacon Street for a past larceny report. The victim stated that she had received confirmation of a package being delivered to the vestibule of her building earlier that day yet when she arrived home the package was not there. The matter is under investigation.

On September 18, an officer ran a random query of a vehicle traveling on Harvard Street and found that the driver had a suspended license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver was placed under arrest.

On September 14, officers responded to Park St. for a larceny report. The victim reported that she had placed her wallet in a cart she uses for shopping and then left the cart in the hallway while she stepped into the maintenance room of her residence. The victim later noticed that her wallet was missing. The matter is under investigation.

In the morning of September 13, an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn onto Newton Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver had an active warrant in her name. The driver was placed under arrest.

On September 13, an officer was dispatched to Washington St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that when she got to her car that morning she found that the door was ajar and items were missing from inside. The matter is under investigation.

A woman came into the police department to report a larceny. The woman stated that on the morning of September 13, she had parked her car on Webster St. with her bike attached to the rack on her car. The woman said that when she came back to her car in the afternoon her bike was gone. The larceny is under investigation.

In the evening of September 13, an officer responded to Kent St. for a report of a past larceny. The victim stated that the evening before he had locked his bike to the staircase of his residence and the bike was gone the next morning.  The matter is under investigation.

11:15am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Alton Place for a report of a past breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle.  On scene, the victim reported parking her car in the rear of the apartment.  The next morning, the victim discovered someone had gone through the vehicle.  The only item reported miss was a small sum of loose change.

11:45am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a local temple on Sewall Avenue for a report of a larceny. On scene, the victim reported placing her purse down on a table in the lobby of the temple at approximately 10:30am. On her arrival back to the purse, she discovered her wallet was missing. The wallet contained cash, credit, and debit cards. The victim has been advised to cancel her cards and report any fraudulent activity.

4:17pm: While on a traffic detail, an officer was dispatched to a grocery store on Beacon St. for a report of a stolen wallet.  The victim reported leaving her purse in her carriage, while looking for an item.  When she arrived back to the carriage, she discovered her wallet was missing.  Among the items stolen was a small sum of cash and two credit cards. The victim has been advised to cancel her cards and report any fraudulent activity.

On September 9, an officer responded to a building on Tappan Street for a report of larceny. The victim reported that her laptop had been taken from an unlocked locker. The matter is still under investigation.

In the afternoon of September 9, a woman came into the police station to report a past larceny. The woman stated that she had set down her purse in a business on Harvard Street that morning and then proceeded to leave the business without her purse. The woman stated that once she realized she had left her purse behind she called the business but her purse could not be located. The incident is being investigated.

An officer responded to a residence on Corey Road for a report of fraud. The victim stated that he had posted on Craigslist in regards to finding a room for rent and received a response from a man who said he had a room available. The man then asked the victim to send a copy of his driver’s license and a deposit for the room. The incident is believed to be internet fraud.

In the evening of September 9, a call came in to the police department stating that there was a car driving erratically on Beacon Street. An officer responded to the area and observed a vehicle drifting between two lanes. The officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver’s eyes to be bloodshot and glassy, his speech was slow and deliberate, and an odor of alcohol emanating from him. The driver was placed under arrest operating under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation.

On September 10, an officer responded to a residence on Verndale Street for a report of a past larceny. The reporting party stated that at some point on Thursday September 8, multiple items had gone missing from the bedrooms of his roommates. There was no sign of forced entry. The matter is under investigation.

3:55pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a business on Beacon St. The victim reported leaving work at approximately 3:00pm, and realized she had forgotten her purse at work. On the victim’s arrival back to work, the employee realized her purse was missing from her desk.  No surveillance cameras were found in the immediate area. The officer advised the victim to monitor her credit for fraudulent activity.

1:50pm: While on patrol, several officers were dispatched to a bank on Beacon St. for a report of a two subjects trying to pass fraudulent checks. A description of the individuals was broadcasted over the radio. While on scene, officers were able to obtain a better description of the two subjects and a still photo from their surveillance camera. The photo was distributed to officers searching the area.  

                Shortly after receiving the updated description, an officer on Beacon St. reported seeing two male subjects matching the description ducking between bushes near an apartment.  A few minutes later, another officer reported seeing an individual matching the description, acting suspicious and profusely sweating as if he had been running. The officer asked to speak with the individual. The suspect admitted he was at the Bank on Beacon St., and when asked about the check the reported he had thrown it away.  The bank manager was asked to participate in a show up identification, and the manger positively identified the subject as one of the individuals passing fraudulent checks. The subject was immediately placed under arrest. Approximately one hour after the arrest of the first suspect, the second individual was located in the rear of a business on Washington St. and was placed under arrest. Both subjects were charged with one count of forgery and one count of uttering a forged document.

8:31pm: Officers were dispatched to an apartment on Aspinwall Ave for a larceny report. The victim reported recently moving into his apartment and placed his new grill in the backyard unsecured. The next day, he discovered it was missing.

On September 6, an officer responded to a building on Beacon St. for a report of larceny. The victim, an employee at the site, stated that her purse had gone missing from where she had stored it during her shift. The incident is under investigation.

In the afternoon of September 6^th, a man came into the police station to report a larceny. The man stated that his motorized scooter had been stolen from the lawn in front of a Beacon St. property sometime between the evening of September 5^th and the morning of September 6^th.

On September 1^st, an officer received a report of fraud. The victim reported receiving a call which appeared to be from 911. The caller stated that the victim had an arrest warrant in her name due to unpaid taxes. The victim then reported receiving a second call from a number associated with the IRS and was told her taxes had been deemed fraudulent and that she owed money. A third caller requested that the victim purchase various giftcards to cover the balance on her account. Brookline PD has deemed these calls to be fraudulent. Please be cautious of such calls and remember that the IRS will not conduct such matters over the phone.

On September 2, an officer responded to an office building on Beacon St. for a report of malicious damage. The building manager reported 7 indoor office window panes had been vandalized. No offices appeared to have been entered.

Early in the morning on September 3^rd, officers responded to a call from the BU Police Department in regards to an erratic driver on Babcock Street. The BU Police reported seeing the vehicle turn right and then accelerate over the curb and onto the sidewalk. After backing up off of the curb, officers reported seeing the car accelerate onto the curb a second time, reverse off the curb, and come to a stop on the street. An officer approached the vehicle and found that the driver’s eyes were closed and he appeared to be asleep. When woken up by the officer, the driver attempted to accelerate away but stopped when ordered by the officer. The driver was reported to have glassy eyes, slurred speech, and an open alcohol container in his center console. The driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the afternoon of September 4, officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a report of a shoplifter who had just left. An employee reported seeing the suspect take an item from the shelf and place it into a bag he was already carrying. The employee and manager confronted the man who gave back the item and left the store. Officers stopped a man who fit the description of the shoplifter and found that he had two active warrants in his name. The man was placed under arrest for the active warrants and shoplifting.

In the early morning of September 5, officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Commonwealth Ave. The employee reported seeing two males enter the store, take merchandise and flee on foot without paying. The incident is under investigation.

On September 5, an officer in the Coolidge Corner area reported two shoplifters leaving a store. The two males were stopped and found to have unpaid for merchandise on them. They are both being summoned to court for Shoplifting.

On September 5, a man reported a bicycle being stolen from Boylston Street. The man stated that he had locked the bike to a street pole the night before and when he came back for it in the morning the lock had been cut and the bike was gone.

In the afternoon an officer responded to Summit Ave. for a report of theft. The victim stated that on Friday September 2, a Samsung tablet had been stolen from his car while it was parked in Beacon Street.

2:21pm: Officers were dispatched to shoplifting in progress to a local business on Beacon St.  The Brookline dispatch was able to broadcast a description of the subject over radio, as well as describe the sunglasses he had stolen. Upon the officer’s arrival to the scene, the officers witness the walk inside another area store.  Once the subject saw the officers approach him, he abandoned the sunglasses as he had taken from the original store. The subject was immediately placed under arrest and transported back to the Brookline Police Department.

6:30pm: A Brookline resident approached the officer assigned to the front desk to report a past larceny. The victim reported attending the gym earlier in the day, and placed several items into a locker which was left unlocked. After completing his workout, the victim returned to his locker and discovered his money clip and electronic tablet missing.

10:41am: A Brookline resident approached the officer assigned to the front desk to report a past larceny. The victim reported back in May, she had contractors working on her apartment for a few weeks. Shortly, after the work was done the victim noticed a few of her paintings were missing.  A follow up by detective division was requested. 

Subject leads officers on a foot chase / In custody

At approximately 3:15pm units were dispatched to the area of Sewall Ave for a report of a suspicious male riding a bike slowly and looking into vestibules. Units located a party matching the description and in an attempt to speak with him the party fled on the bike. The party then discarded the bike in the area of Stearns Road and St. Paul Street.  The subject fled on foot.  Units chased him through several yards in the area of Francis Street.  Officers were unable to locate him.

At approximately 4:47pm a resident of Sterns Road called and said someone was hiding under the bed in their home and had just fled the house. Officers started a foot chase that led through various neighborhoods in Brookline and into the Mission Hill area of Boston.

The party was apprehended in the area of 100 South Huntington Ave at approximately 5:21pm with assistance from other departments.

The subject is a 27yr old male from East Boston.

He faces the following charges:

B&E intent Felony

Receiving Stolen Property $250

Larceny Over $250

Resisting Arrest

Disorderly Person

He will be arraigned in Brookline District Court on Tuesday.

1:20am:  A Brookline resident approached and officer assigned to the front desk of the Public Safety building to report his stolen motorcycle.  The victim stated on 8/18/2016, he had parked his vehicle on St. Mary’s Street at approximately 7:00pm.  The next morning, he discovered the motorcycle was missing. A check of the area for surveillance cameras yielded negative results.

8:20am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to Boylston St. for a report of a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.  The victim stated he had parked his in front of his residence the night on 8/19/2016. The next morning, he discovered the contents of the vehicle had been rummaged through and tossed around the car. The victim discovered his GPS and MP3 player was missing from the victim.

2:00pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to Boylston St. for a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated on 8/19/2016, he had parked his car unlocked on Boylston Street overnight. The next morning, he discovered his vehicle had been rummaged through. The victim reported was missing a small sum of money and GPS.

5:14pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a gas station on Harvard St. for a report of a larceny. On scene, a gas station employee reported a vehicle fled without paying for gasoline. The employee was able to provide a full description of the subject and the vehicle.  A search of the area yielded negative results.

9:00pm: An officer was dispatched to Pond Ave for a report of a past residential breaking and entering.  On scene, the victim stated his family had left the apartment making sure to lock both doors as they left for the day. On their arrival home, the family observed the apartment door open and the several items missing from their house. The victims reported missing including a tablet, guitar, prescription medication, and several pieces of jewelry.  This matter is still under investigation.

9:30am: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident to report his bicycle stolen.  The victim reported last seeing the bicycle attached to a bike rack on Longwood Ave between 8/14/2016 and 8/16/2016. The next morning he noticed the bicycle was missing and the lock still attached to the bike rake.

 4:56pm: While monitoring traffic at intersection of Parkway Rd and Netherlands Rd witnessed a vehicle go through a stop sign.  The officer activated his emergency blue lights and stopped the vehicle on Parkway Rd.  When asked for his license and registration, the driver stated his license was suspended.  A query of the driver’s information confirmed his license was suspended and was immediately placed under arrest without incident.

9:08am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to Boylston St. for a report of a past breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. On scene, the victim reported parking her called on 8/17/2016 at approximately 6:00pm, leaving the car unlocked.  The next morning she discovered the contents of the vehicle rummaged through. The victim reported no items were taken from her car.

5:37pm: A Brookline resident approached the officer assigned to the front desk to report her license plate had been stolen.  The vehicle was parked on Reservoir Rd.

8:20am: While monitoring the intersection of Grove and Newton St, an officer witnessed a vehicle make a wrong left turn from Grove to Newton. There are three signs posted station no left turn.  A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was asked to produce his license and registration. The driver stated he did not have a license and a check with Brookline Dispatch confirmed he did not. The subject was placed under arrest and charged with Not Being Duly Licensed and Making an Improper Turn.

5:30pm: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident to report his vehicle was broken into on Beacon St.  The victim stated on Friday, 8/12/2016 at approximately 8:30am, the victim discovered the door to his vehicle was open and the compartments had been rummaged through. At this time, the victim reports nothing of value has been taken from the vehicle.

1:30pm: While on patrol, an officer observed a suspicious individual on Babcock Street. The officer observed the individual crossing the street multiple times and looking down driveways and unoccupied houses. After observing the subject walk between a private condominium development the officer stopped the male for questioning.  A check of the subject’s criminal history revealed the subject had two warrants out for his arrest.  The individual was immediately placed under arrest without incident.

10:00am: Officers were dispatched to a local store on Harvard Street for a report of a shoplifting.  On scene, the store manager stated she had observed a male subject place several items into his shopping cart, and leather bag he was carrying. The manager observed the male go through the checkout lane, only paying for the items in the cart. The individual left the store not paying for the items in his leather bag.  A search for the subject in the surrounding area yielded negative results.

Arrest of Special Interest

In July, as a result of several calls to a Brookline housing authority property on Park Street, the Department’s Walk and Talk unit, working with detectives, opened an investigation.

Part of the investigation led to the discovery of ads on the internet, leading investigators to believe the Park Street residence may be used as a location for prostitution. With this information officers conducted surveillance. As the investigation grew, the department started to work with Boston’s Regional Intelligence Center and Boston’s Fugitive unit.

On 8/10/2016  the Park street resident, was arrested on a warrant. He is facing charges including permitting prostitution.

On 8/11/2016 a second subject was arrested and facing charges including Domestic A&B, Human Trafficking and Deriving Support from a prostitute.

August 12, 2016

An officer was conducting unmarked patrol in the area of Griggs Road and Griggs Terrace,(Griggs park) when he established surveillance of two male subjects acting questionably. One of the male subjects appeared to walk down a driveway on Griggs Road. Approximately three minutes later the officer observed one of the male subjects appear in the area of Washington St. and jump into a blue Honda Accord. The vehicle headed on Washington Street towards Beacon. The officer continued to follow the vehicle at a safe distance and observed the vehicle take a sharp left onto Hancock Street.  As the vehicle tried to exit the dead end street the officer conducted a traffic stop.

As the stop was being conducted a resident from Griggs road called to report their home had been broken into. Officers responded and the address which is where the officer had seen the subject in the driveway only a few minutes ago.

The residents reported they were home and heard noises coming from upstairs.  They yelled upstairs and then the noises stopped. They investigated and observed obvious signs of a break in so they called 911. Based upon all the evidence the subject at the motor vehicle stop was taken into custody and faces charges of Breaking and Entering in the day time. This case is still under investigation as police seek the second subject seen on Griggs road. Fortunately no one was hurt and anyone who may have been in the park, or that area, are asked to call the police if they saw anything suspicious.

On August 10^th, our Warrant Apprehension Unit joined by the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Unit, Massachusetts Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and officers from the Boston Police D-14 Anti-Crime Unit successfully served various warrants. These included warrants for Possession of a Class A Drug and Distribution of a Class A Drug, Threat to Commit a Crime and Criminal Harassment, and Larceny over $250.

5:33 pm: A Beacon Street resident reported a B&E with larceny.  It appeared that someone had used brute force to enter the apartment through the front door. A camera and multiple camera lenses were stolen. Evidence was taken from the scene for further analysis.

7:13 pm: Officers responded to a call for a B&E on Boylston Street. It appeared that entry had been made through the front door of the apartment building and the apartment door using a pry tool. One of the victims stated the apartment appeared to have been rummaged through and his laptop and checkbook were stolen. The suspect had forced open a small safe to obtain the checkbook.

9:53 pm: Officers responded to Beacon Street for a B&E of an apartment. The victim stated that although the front door was locked when she arrived home, she noticed boxes and drawers disturbed inside the apartment. The victim is unsure if any items are missing. The rear door of her apartment was unlocked when she arrived home and there was no forced entry to the door. The victim will follow up with what was taken from the apartment.

11:39 pm: A Short Street resident reported a strange odor in their apartment. Officers had responded to the apartment a few hours earlier for the same call and the residents had already been advised. Firefighters informed the resident that the odor was most likely related to renovations being made in the building and reported to officers that the adjacent apartment appeared to have been forced in, but had been secure on the prior call. Varnish appeared to be freshly spilled in the bathroom of the apartment. Responding officers spoke with the caller asking if he knew anything about the damage to the door. First, he denied having anything to do with the damage and avoided answering questions. Later, details of his story changed. It was observed that to gain entry into the building one would need to be buzzed in and no damage was made to the front door.  Damage to the apartment door appeared to have been made using a fire extinguisher outside of the apartment. The resident was placed under arrest for malicious destruction/damage of property and B&E in the nighttime.

1:49am: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Green Street for a Breaking and Entering in progress. The reporting person stated to Brookline Dispatch that she was awoken by an unidentified subject opening her bedroom door.  The victim asked who was there and the subject quickly exited through the front door.  On scene, the victim reported the door to her apartment was unlocked. The victim reported nothing missing.  

10:49am: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to an apartment on Harrison St. for a past report of fraud.  On scene, the victim reported making an appointment with a pest control company scheduled for 8/8/2016, between 12:00 and 2:00pm; however, the appointment was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. The victim reported having a male subject knock on her front door around 12:00pm and she assumed he was from the pest control company. The subject walked inside the house for approximately three hours and talked about being broke and needing gas money. The victim did not feel threatened by the subject, but she gave the individual money to get him to leave the apartment. The victim called the pest control company to see if the individual was one of their workers and he stated they were with him in Revere on a job site.  At this time, the victim stated she had not discovered any items missing from the residence.

1:30pm: While on patrol an officer was dispatched to a school on Williston Road for a report of a past larceny. On scene, the victim reported locking his bike to a street sign on 8/3/2016 at approximately 4:00pm, and he discovered it missing 8/4/2016 at approximately 9:00am. A copy of surveillance footage has been requested and will be made available to the Brookline Police for further investigation.

4:30pm: While on patrol officers were dispatched to a residence on Lee Street for a past residential breaking and entering.  The victim reported leaving her house on 8/5/2016 at approximately 8:00pm and returned on 8/6/2016 at approximately 4:10 pm, to find her storage shed pried open. The victim reported nothing of value was taken from the shed.

2:20pm: A theft of the larceny was reported at a local gym on Commonwealth Ave. On scene, the victim reported placing his wallet unsecure in a locker in the men’s bathroom and after working out noticed his wallet was missing. Shortly after another gym patron found the wallet in the rear of the parking garage. The victim reported missing a small sum of money.

3:47pm: A Brookline resident approached the officer assigned to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department to report a past larceny. The victim reported on 7/2/2016 at approximately 3:00am, he had parked his car Lawton Street and when he arrived back the vehicle on 7/5/2016 he discovered his vehicle had been broken into. The victim reported a large sum of money was taken from the vehicle.

9:53am: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident who wanted to report a past larceny.  The victim reported having his camera and accessories stolen from a local school in Brookline. The room where the camera was stored was unlocked and no surveillance cameras were found in the immediate area.

4:40pm: While on patrol officers responded to residents on Ackers Ave for a past larceny of a bicycle. The victim stated she had her bicycle unlocked against the side of her house on 7/29/2016.  The next day, the victim noticed the bike was missing, but believed her husband moved it into the basement. After questioning her husband on the whereabouts of the bicycle, he stated he did not move the bicycle.

10:22am: While on patrol an officer was dispatched to a residence on Pearl Street for a report of a stolen motorized scooter. The victim reported parking her scooter directly in front of her door unsecured for a couple hours.  Once she returned to use the scooter, the victim discovered it was missing.  No surveillance cameras were found in the immediate area.

12:30pm: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident who wanted to report she was a victim of flim-flam. The victim reported receiving a call from a male subject who claimed he was member of the IRS.  The subject told the victim she owed back taxes in the amount of $3,300.00. The subject stated the problem could be rectified if the victim purchased the amount owed in Apple I-tunes gift cards. The victim purchased the gift cards and gave the codes to the subject. During the ordeal, the victim also spoke with an unidentified female who told the victim she owed an additional $49,000.00 to rectify the situation. The victim told the female subject she would need to speak with her father about the additional money.  After researching the IRS following her conversations, the victim realized the IRS did not operate in this fashion. The victim contacted Apple and froze the gift cards. This matter is still under investigation.

11:13am: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline to report he had been a victim of the fraud.  The victim reported he had wire-transferred his bank to another bank account to secure an apartment for rent, which he had found on the internet.  However, the victim found out the apartment was not actually for rent.  He contacted the online company to notify them of the false listing and the officer advised he should contact his bank to freeze the funds.

5:00am: Officers were dispatched to an apartment on High St. for a report of an unwanted person. On scene, officers spoke with the reporting person who stated she did not want her son in the apartment after he had locked himself out. A description of subject was broadcasted over the radio and shortly thereafter the subject was located. A query of the individual’s criminal history revealed he had two warrants out for his arrest.  The subject was immediately arrested and transported back to the Brookline Police Department.

2:30pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Russett Rd. for a report of a stolen bicycle. Victim stated she took the bicycle to a friend’s house on Intervale Rd. and left the bike unsecure in the driveway. On her arrival back to the driveway, the victim discovered the bicycle missing.  A search of the area for the bicycle yielded negative results.

9:24pm: Officers were dispatched to a house on Russell St. for a report of an unwanted party.  The reporting person stated she had order her ex-boyfriend out of the house and refused to leave. The boyfriend was located inside the house and placed under arrest for trespassing.

6:00pm: Officers were dispatched to a residence on Boylston St. for a past larceny. The victim reported parking his vehicle in his assigned parking spot and did not return for several hours. On his arrival back to the vehicle, he discovered the car was placed on milk crates and all four tires were missing.  No surveillance cameras were discovered in the parking lot or immediate area.

1:01am: While on patrol, an officer conducted a random query of a vehicles registration traveling on Harvard Street.  The query revealed the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. The officer activated his emergency overhead lights and conducted a traffic stop. The driver identified himself as the owner of the vehicle. The subject was immediately placed under arrest and charged with operating after suspension.

7/28/2016

7:56pm: While monitoring traffic, an officer witnessed a vehicle make a wrong turn down Newton Street, which is marked one-way street. The officer immediately initiated a traffic stop. When asked to produce a license, the operator stated he did not have a driver’s license.  A check with Brookline Dispatch confirmed the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Brookline Police Department. During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to towing, officers found a small plastic bag which was believed to be cocaine. The subject has been charged with Not Being Duly Licensed, Possession of a Class B Drug, and Making and Improper turn.

9:00am: A Brookline resident approached an officer assigned to the front desk of the Brookline Police Department to report his moped was stolen.  The victim stated his moped was not locked or secured to anything, and the garage door was left open. Victim stated there was no security surveillance camera in the garage or nearby area.

9:02 am: A bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack on Station Street. The bicycle had been locked to the rack for a few days, but was missing when the owner went to retrieve it. Be advised that there has been an increase in bicycle thefts in the past couple of months. Since May, we have seen 17 bike thefts. Be sure to properly secure your bikes.

12:56 pm: Officers responded to a report of B&E on Wolcott Road. It appeared that the suspect(s) attempted to gain entry by smashing a pane of glass on the cellar door, but the door was locked. They then smashed the side door of the house leading into the kitchen. The door and door frame were both damaged. The owners of the house have been notified and are planning to have it boarded up.  

3:20pm: Officers were dispatched to a business on Harvard St. for a past shoplifting. On scene, a store employee reported she had seen two individuals placing large amounts of nail polish into a basket. The employee then witnessed the subjects immediately exit the store and get into a black SUV without paying for the items. The store manager was able to give the officers the stores surveillance video to provide them with a description of the individuals. A search of the area yielded negative results.

10:24pm: While on patrol, officers responded to a residence on Winchester St. for a report of a larceny. On arrival to the scene, the victim stated his large concrete potted plant had been taken from the front steps of his house between the hours of 4:00pm and 10:00 pm.

10:46am: A Brookline resident approached an officer attending the front desk of the Brookline Police Headquarters to report a past larceny. The victim reported on Tuesday, 7/19/2016, he had locked his two bicycles in the common storage area of his apartment building. The next morning, the victim discovered both bicycles were missing.

4:30pm: A Brookline resident approached an officer attending the front desk of the Brookline Police Headquarters to report her diamond ring had been stolen.  The victim stated on 6/30/2016, a moving company moved her belongings from her old apartment to her new apartment on Beacon St.  After unpacking her belongings over the course of the next few days, she had realized her diamond ring was missing.  She has spent the last few weeks searching unsuccessfully for her ring.

9:27am: While on patrol, an officer was flagged down by a Brookline resident on Kent St. to report the front tire to her bicycle was missing. The victim reported locking her bicycle the night before and the next day found the front tire was missing while the rest of the bike remained intact.  No surveillance cameras were found in the area.

3:51pm: While on patrol, an officer was dispatched to a residence on Clinton Rd. for a report of a package theft. On scene, the victim stated at approximately 2:00pm he had three packages delivered to his house. On his arrival home, he had discovered the all three of the packages were opened; however, the only item taken was a cell phone charger.

10:00pm: Officers were dispatched to a local gym on Commonwealth Ave for a report of the larceny. On scene, the victim stated his black sweatshirt had stolen from his bathroom locker, which was left unsecured with no lock on it. The officer spoke with the manager of the gym who stated he did not see anything unusual or suspicious. The manager was able to provide the officer with a copy of the surveillance video from the entrance of the bathroom. This matter is still under investigation.

7/21/2016

1:50am: While patrolling the area of Welland Rd. an officer observed a subject on a bike in the middle of the roadway peering down driveways in a suspicious manner.  The officer stopped to speak with the individual and the person stated he and his friend were just riding their bikes. The officer noticed a second individual, standing closer to a driveway with his bicycling laying 5-6 feet away from him. The two individuals seemed to be getting increasingly nervous as the officer kept asking questions. The officer also noticed down the driveway one of the subjects kept looking down had an SUV with the interior lights on.  At this time, the officer got out of the cruiser to ask for the name of the two subjects. One subject fled on foot and the other took off on his bicycle. The officer was able to follow the suspect on the bicycle for a short distance on foot until he abandoned his bikes and took off running through backyards. The officer contacted Brookline Control to give his location and the description of the suspects.  After an extensive search, the suspects were unable to be located. Back on scene, another officer was able to speak with the owner of the vehicle who stated he had left the vehicle unlocked and at the time it appears nothing was stolen. This matter is still under investigation.

8:20am: While assigned to the front desk, an officer was approached by a Brookline resident who wanted to report his backpack had been stolen.  The victim stated on 7/20/2016, he had the parked his car behind a business on Commonwealth and on his arrival back to his vehicle he noticed his trunk was open, and his backpack containing his laptop, checkbook, and personal books was missing.

6:21pm: While on patrol, an officer observed a brown SUV traveling southbound on Harvard St. that did not have a valid inspection sticker. The officer activated his overhead emergency lights and safely initiated a traffic stop. The officer advised the operator as to the reason for the stop and requested the drivers’ license and registration. A query of the driver’s information revealed he had a warrant out for his arrest. The subject was placed under arrest and transported back to the Brookline Police Station.

1:19: Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Brookline Public Library. A staff member spoke to officers and stated that she believed a male suspect in the library matched the description of a suspect involved in thefts that had recently occurred. The suspect spoke to the officers who explained he was seen on library surveillance footage taking a backpack. He was also linked to damage made to a lock on a scooter. He was placed under arrest and charged with Malicious Damage of Property, Larceny from a Building and Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Offenses.

1:45 pm: A motorcycle was reported stolen from Hawes Street.

2:07 pm: Officers responded to a call for a fraud report from a company on Boylston Street. An administrator spoke to officers and stated that a check had been made out using the company’s routing and account numbers, but the check was not a company check. The administrator did not know the individual the check was made out to and the signature on the back was unrecognizable. A telephone number was left as well, but the White Pages revealed no matches.

3:45 pm: A Beacon Street resident reported his bicycle was stolen from a parking garage. The theft was caught by surveillance cameras in the garage. The surveillance footage and photos are being used by officers in this ongoing investigation.

2:00 pm: An individual reported that someone had damaged her car when she attempted to signal a stopped driver to move forward. The subject got out of his car and yelled at the victim and damaged her car, shattering the windshield. The subject then continued on West Roxbury Parkway. The victim was unable to get the registration plate. The victim was advised to contact an auto glass company to repair the damage made to her vehicle.

6:21 pm: Officers responded to a report of credit card fraud at a business on Harvard Street. A male had shown up at the store to pick up a pair of sunglasses he had ordered with a fraudulent card. Upon arrival, an officer observed a male matching the description of the subject and he was identified. The subject was placed under arrest.

7:33 pm: Officers were dispatched to the Brookline Public Library for a disturbance. Upon arrival, the individual was identified and it was confirmed that an active default warrant for Disorderly Conduct had been issued in January. The subject was then placed under arrest and was issued a no trespass order from the library.

4:45 pm: A bike was reported stolen from the bike rack where it was locked on Beacon Street. Surveillance footage of the area may be available, but was not obtained at the time as the businesses in the area were closed.

5:24 am: Officers responded to a fight on Harvard Street. The individuals involved were the same two parties involved in an earlier event. The parties were separated and questioned. It was explained to police that the first party was still upset about events that had occurred earlier and he left their apartment to smoke a cigarette. When he left he observed the second party and went to confront him. After officers arrived, the individual continued to yell despite being advised to remain calm and reduce his volume. This party was angry about the earlier assault summons. Due to his behavior and the reaction from motorists and residents in the area, this individual was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. An additional charge of assault will be brought on the individual based on the other party’s story.

1:33 pm: A backpack was reported stolen from a table at the Brookline Public Library on Washington Street. The library staff was able to capture an image of a possible suspect leaving the library with a backpack matching the description of the missing bag.

3:26 pm: Officers stopped a possible suspect from an earlier larceny on School Street. A responding officer was able to match the subject and the backpack in his possession to those in the library surveillance video. The suspect was placed under arrest.

8:20am: An officer was dispatched to a residence on Centre St. for a report of a past larceny.  On scene, the victim reported that at approximately 7:30am on 7/15/2016, he had discovered all four tires from his vehicle had been stolen and the vehicle was placed onto cinder blocks.

3:40pm: A Brookline resident reported she had been a victim of fraud. The victim reported that on 5/10/2016 she had wired money from her bank in Japan to a local bank in Brookline to secure an apartment she had found online.  On her arrival to Brookline, she had found out the apartment was occupied by the rightful renters and realized she had been a scammed. The victim provided the officer with a copy of the funds transfer paperwork, and the email from the person she had been working with to get the apartment. This matter is still under investigation.
