Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle in a meter space and returned to find the driver’s side window shattered. His GPS unit and Ipod radio transmitter were missing. Police are following up on the case.

Fraud
Occurred between 12:00PM (3/18) and 12:00PM (3/29) – Lancaster Terrace
Police responded to a report of identity theft. The victim stated that he had received a message from the Verizon Verification department asking about a suspicious order of five blackberry cell phones being shipped to Florida. After calling and stopping the order, the victim was also informed that his social security number and date of birth were used in the purchase. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a fire alarm. Firefighters noticed that there was a detached and charred light switch on the wall and burnt paper in a trash can below. The fire was deemed to have been started intentionally. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. He also noticed that someone had gone through his glove compartment. A digital camera and battery charger were missing. Police are following up on the case.

After locating the owner, it was discovered that a GPS unit was missing from the glove compartment. Police are following up on the case.

Arrest
Occurred 9:50PM (3/27) – Park St.
Police attempted to locate a man who had numerous warrants for his arrest for multiple felony charges. One of these charges involved a car crash in which he used a friend’s vehicle. The friend was told by the suspect to file a false police report saying it was stolen. This same friend was also aware of this man’s warrants and was allowing him to stay at her place. Officers went to the apartment and found the suspect trying to escape through a window. He was arrested for the warrants, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The friend was arrested for accessory after the fact, impeding an investigation, and filing a false police report.
Occurred 2:22AM (3/28) – Beacon St.
Police executed a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Upon identifying the driver, officers noticed a strong odor of liquor coming from the driver and the vehicle. After further conversation and observation, officers suspected that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, failing to stop at a red light, and speeding. She was also issued a marijuana citation.
Graffiti
Occurred 3:12PM (3/26) – 12 Pleasant St.
Police responded to a report of graffiti. The tag was on top of the front door and was written in a silver marker. Officers noticed some more silver graffiti on windows on a neighboring building. Police are following up on the case.
Fraud
Occurred 4:39PM (3/26) – Euston St.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious call. The victim stated that she received a phone call from a man who claimed to be calling on behalf of a legal affidavit processing law firm. The man stated that she owed a significant amount of money and if she failed to pay within one hour Federal Agents would come to her house and arrest her. The man also had her social security number. Police are following up on the case.
Malicious Damage
Occurred between 7:00PM (3/26) and 4:00PM (3/28) – Harrison St.
Police responded to a report of malicious damage. The victims stated that they had gone away for the weekend and upon returning home, discovered that a window was broken. The top pane of a window was smashed and a large rock was found on the ground below. Police are following up on the case.
Larceny
Occurred 5:31PM (3/26) – 82 Boylston St.
Police responded to a report of larceny. The victim stated that her laptop computer had been stolen. The victim reported that a man had entered the store and asked to see a bed for his daughter. After showing the beds, the victim went down to the ground level of the store. She later noticed the man leaving the store holding his abdomen. When she went upstairs she noticed that her laptop computer was missing. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a residential breaking and entering and larceny. The victim stated that when she returned to her apartment after being out all day she found that some of her jewelry was missing. A ring, a tennis bracelet, a white gold chain, and three diamond pendants were stolen. A back window in her apartment was discovered to be unlocked. Police are following up on the case.

Victim reported to police that his restaurant has been spray painted twice in the last five nights. Since the graffiti is located in the upper part of the building, officers suspect that the restaurant is being tagged from the roof. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a customer disturbing. The victim stated that the suspect demanded money from her. The victim had been staying at the suspect’s home and refused to give him money. When she wouldn’t give him the money, the suspect threatened her. Upon identifying the suspect, he was found to have 5 outstanding arrest warrants, which he was subsequently arrested for, along with unarmed robbery, threats to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct.

Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a local Stop & Shop. The manager stated that he had watched the suspect place numerous grocery items into bags and attempt to leave. When the suspect saw the manager watching her, she dropped the bags and tried to flee but was stopped. Upon identifying the suspect, police found that she had four warrants for her arrest. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest for shoplifting and the warrants.
Occurred 6:47PM (3/23) – 345 Harvard Ave.
Police executed a traffic stop for an expired license plate. Upon identifying the driver, officers found that he had a warrant out of Newton for motor vehicle violations and the driver was subsequently arrested.

Occurred between 3:23PM (3/9) and 5:33PM (3/10) – Worthington Rd.
Police responded to a report of identity theft. The caller, the victim’s wife, stated that a Brookline Bank employee contacted her regarding a suspicious fax that their office had received. The fax requested a change of billing address and used her husband’s social security number and date of birth. Days later she found that someone had contacted the bank pretending to be her husband and requested his mortgage information. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle that had just occurred. The caller stated that she was walking down the street when she heard the sound of smashing glass. She turned to see what had happened and saw a person wearing a blue hooded jacket and earphones running from the directions of the noise. Officers found the front passenger window of a vehicle smashed and after contacting the owner, it was discovered that an iTouch mp3 player was missing. Police are following up on the case.

A security guard spotted a man who he knew to have a restraining order barring him from the hospital property. Upon arriving, officers discovered that the man also had a warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently arrested for trespassing and the warrant.

Arrest
Occurred 1:45AM (3/19) – Green St./John St.
Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident. The victim stated that he had been double parked on the side of the road when he noticed another vehicle coming dangerously close. The other vehicle side-swiped the victim’s car and drove off. The victim pursued and noticed that the vehicle was driving erratically. He reported to police that the driver was possibly intoxicated. The driver finally pulled over and the victim took her keys until officers arrived. After conversation with and observation of the driver, officers suspected that the driver was indeed intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, and making an illegal left turn.

Police executed a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Upon identifying and conversing with the driver, officers noticed that much of the driver’s story did not seem reasonable. After further conversation and observation, officers became concerned that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Occurred between 5:53PM (3/20) and 5:53PM (3/21) – 1 Lawton St. Playground
Police responded to a call about graffiti. The officers noticed graffiti on the archway leading into the playground, the Bay Cove Academy building, and along the building across the street. Officers found numerous other graffiti tags that officers discovered had occurred on the same night throughout Brookline. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of graffiti. The owner of the vandalized building stated that she believed the two tags occurred over night. Police are following up on the case.

Police observed a piece of plywood leaning against a house that was covered in graffiti tags. The owner of the home stated that she was throwing the plywood out of her house due to recent basement flooding. Police are following up on the case.
Fraud

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that he had received a call from a man who worked for a steel company in Pennsylvania regarding an emailed order the company had found suspicious. The order was placed for a large sum of money from the victim’s email account and stated that the product was to be shipped to Ghana. Police are following up on the case.

Victim reported to police that someone had made several fraudulent charges using his credit card information. The charges were primarily made on websites. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred between 8:00AM (3/15) and 11:00PM (3/16) – 111 Marion St.
Police responded to a report of malicious damage to a fence. The victim had observed that the section of the fence that included the locking device had been knocked to the ground. Police are following up on the case.
Occurred between 1:00AM and 1:11AM (3/21) – 9 Kenwood St.
Police discovered a vehicle with a smashed window. The driver’s side window was broken and the head of a golf club putter was found on the seat. Officers were unable to locate the driver. Police are following up on the case.
Motor Vehicle Theft
Occurred between 2:00PM (3/20) and 2:00PM (3/21) – 115 Park St.
Victim reported to police that her vehicle had been stolen. Upon returning to the station, officers discovered that the vehicle’s registration had been queried by Boston Police. Boston Police stated that the vehicle was found unoccupied and heavily damaged and had been towed for storage. Police are following up on the case.
Larceny

Police responded to a report of a larceny. The victim stated that she had ordered a package through UPS. When the victim arrived home on delivery day, the package in the front foyer of her building had been opened and its contents had been removed. Police are following up on the case.

Police observed a man crouched down beside a vehicle in the Walgreen’s parking lot. Officers stopped the man and asked what he had been doing next to the vehicle. The man stated that he had been urinating. After brief investigation, the man was found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle, three white pills, a rubber strap, and a prescription bottle filled with water. Officers also found a bag filled with skincare products under the vehicle the man had crouched next to. Walgreens confirmed that the items had been stolen from their store. The man was arrested for larceny over $250.00 and possession of a class E substance.

Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident. The victim stated that he had been double parked on the side of the road when he noticed another vehicle coming dangerously close. The other vehicle side-swiped the victim’s car and drove off. The victim pursued and noticed that the vehicle was driving erratically. He reported to police that the driver was possibly intoxicated. The driver finally pulled over and the victim took her keys until officers arrived. After conversation with and observation of the driver, officers suspected that the driver was indeed intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, and making an illegal left turn.

Police executed a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Upon identifying and conversing with the driver, officers noticed that much of the driver’s story did not seem reasonable. After further conversation and observation, officers became concerned that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Occurred between 5:53PM (3/20) and 5:53PM (3/21) – 1 Lawton St. Playground
Police responded to a call about graffiti. The officers noticed graffiti on the archway leading into the playground, the Bay Cove Academy building, and along the building across the street. Officers found numerous other graffiti tags that officers discovered had occurred on the same night throughout Brookline. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of graffiti. The owner of the vandalized building stated that she believed the two tags occurred over night. Police are following up on the case.

Police observed a piece of plywood leaning against a house that was covered in graffiti tags. The owner of the home stated that she was throwing the plywood out of her house due to recent basement flooding. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that he had received a call from a man who worked for a steel company in Pennsylvania regarding an emailed order the company had found suspicious. The order was placed for a large sum of money from the victim’s email account and stated that the product was to be shipped to Ghana. Police are following up on the case.

Victim reported to police that someone had made several fraudulent charges using his credit card information. The charges were primarily made on websites. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of malicious damage to a fence. The victim had observed that the section of the fence that included the locking device had been knocked to the ground. Police are following up on the case.

Victim reported to police that her vehicle had been stolen. Upon returning to the station, officers discovered that the vehicle’s registration had been queried by Boston Police. When officers arrived on scene, they observed the vehicle that was parked in a meter space and had substantial front end damage. A transit police officer originally found the vehicle and had examined the scene. He stated that at this time the driver appeared to be sleeping and, upon waking, incoherent. The driver maintained his incoherent state while conversing with officers about what happened. After further investigation and due to the driver’s state, officers became concerned that he was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious man walking around a neighbor’s house. Officers located the suspect riding away on a bicycle. After confirming that the suspect had been around the neighbor’s house, officers conducted a pat frisk search for weapons. Officers located four small bags containing marijuana which appeared to be for distribution. When asked, the suspect admitted to dealing marijuana and was subsequently arrested for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute in a school zone and trespassing.

After removing the passenger due to the warrants and nervous behavior, officers observed a gun on the floor of the front passenger’s side. All occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

After conversing with the occupants and searching the vehicle, officers found two containers holding marijuana and distribution paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that she filed for health insurance with a company called the American Trade Association (sometimes also known as Smart Data Solutions) through a sales representative. The company charged her payments for 7 months. During these months, the victim went to two doctor’s appointments and received delinquent bills on both. These bills should have been covered under her insurance plan. It is now believed that the insurance is a scam. Police are following up on the case.

Free Leaf Blower Inspections!
Effective January 1, 2010, the Leaf Blower Noise By-Law went into effect. The Town will be conducting inspections starting tonight at the Department of Public Works at 870 Hammond Street, and continuing every first and third Tuesday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. No appointments necessary. Machines that pass inspection will receive a label indicating that they may be operated within Brookline.

Police executed a traffic stop for a speeding violation. After conversing with the driver, officers became concerned that he was intoxicated. Upon further investigation, the driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

A further check of the driver’s information confirmed his license had been revoked. Upon further investigation police found that the driver had an active warrant out of Dorchester. The driver was arrested for operating after revocation, the warrant, and failure to stop for a red light.

Police responded to a report of an accident. The vehicle had crawled into a cement. Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver. Due to the circumstances of the accident and the conversation with the driver, officers became concerned that he was intoxicated. At the conclusion of the investigation, the driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
Occurred between 7:00PM (3/9) and 6:00PM (3/10) – 9 John St.
Police responded to a report of malicious damage to a vehicle. The complainant, the daughter of the vehicle’s owner, stated that the vehicle’s driver’s side window and front windshield were smashed. There was also a key in the ignition that did not belong to that vehicle. Another vehicle in the surrounding area also had the windshield smashed. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a larceny. The victim, a security guard at the Bank of America, stated that he had placed his laptop computer under the desk last night. The following morning, everything appeared to be normal but after leaving the area to help out with parking, the victim returned to find his laptop missing. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of malicious damage. The victim stated that two nights in a row her motor scooter had been damaged. There were scratches along the side from it being knocked over and the front was broken. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of larceny. The victim stated that he parked his car in the Ashville parking lot and upon returning noticed his license plates were missing. Police are following up on the case.
Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle
Occurred 12:29PM (3/8) – 637 Washington St.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious white male walking between parked vehicles in a lot. The caller then stated that she witnessed this man enter a parked vehicle. Officers located the suspect and after further investigation placed him under arrest for two counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, attempt to commit a crime, and possession of a class E substance (possible Clonazepam pill was found in suspect’s pocket).
Burglary
Occurred between 4:30PM (3/7) and 5:50AM (3/8) – Harvard St.
Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a local store. The victim stated that when he closed for the day, he took all the money out of the register and placed it in a secure location. When the victim arrived the next morning, the alarm was beeping and the back door had been pried open. Officers found that the phone and alarm cables had been severed and that the tape from the security cameras had been removed. Police are following up on the case.

We are seeking highly motivated people who enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life. They should enjoy being outside getting exercise as they may be required to travel between several locations and interacting with people in the parks.

Arrest
Occurred 1:13AM (3/5) – 44 Washington St.
Police executed a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Officers noticed that there were seven people in the car, which was designed to hold five. After identifying all of the passengers, it was discovered that one had an active warrant issued by Roxbury Court. The man was subsequently placed under arrest.
Occurred between 2:25AM and 3:45AM (3/5) – Beacon St./Hawes St.
Police located a vehicle that had been involved earlier in a hit and run. Based on conversation with the driver of the vehicle and his girlfriend, officers became concerned that he may be intoxicated. The driver was subsequently arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police performed a traffic stop for a driving violation. The driver stated that he did not have a license. After confirming that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, he was subsequently placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle being not duly licensed.

Police executed a traffic stop for a speeding violation. The driver stated that he did not have a driver’s license. Upon confirmation, the driver was arrested for being not duly licensed.

Police responded to a report of a possible assault with a firearm. Officers located the three boys suspected to be involved and discovered that two of them were carrying pellet guns painted to look real. Through further investigation, it was found that only one of the suspects used the weapon in a threatening manner and he was subsequently arrested for assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

Police performed a traffic stop for a driving violation. The driver stated that she did not have a license. Upon confirmation of her license status, the driver was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle not duly licensed.

Police responded to a report of a possible firearm found at the Brookline Public library. The caller stated that he moved a jacket that was on a table and felt heavy item in the pocket. Police located a handgun, with ammunition, and a cell phone inside the jacket pockets. Detectives were able to identify the suspect from surveillance video. Detectives visited the suspect’s home and he was subsequently arrested for unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a firearm, carrying a firearm while under the influence of liquor and possession of ammunition.

Arrest
Occurred 11:05PM (3/2) – 1266 Commonwealth Ave.
Police observed what appeared to be a drug transaction occur outside a CVS parking lot. Both persons involved were questioned and the suspected dealer was in possession of marijuana and several prescription medications. The suspected dealer was placed under arrest for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, and possession of a class B substance.
Assault
Occurred 12:37PM (3/2) – 278 Washington St.
Police responded to a report of assault on a town parking enforcement officer. The victim stated that she was issuing a ticket for an expired meter violation when the vehicle’s owner approached her, upset about the ticket. The owner proceeded to throw her coffee at the parking enforcement officer. When the victim contacted police dispatch, the owner fled the scene. The vehicle and the owner were later located, identified, and arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a public employee.

Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim had been notified that her Capital One credit card was fraudulently used at a gas station in New Jersey. Along with this charge, there were also two additional charges made in Maryland. Police are following up on the case.

Occurred between 1:00AM and 10:15AM (3/2) – Welland Rd.
Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that upon returning to his car, he noticed that his items were strewn around the vehicle. The car had been left unlocked and only some change appears to have been taken. Police are following up on the case.
Occurred 11:05PM (3/2) – 1266 Commonwealth Ave.
Police observed what appeared to be a drug transaction occur outside a CVS parking lot. Both persons involved were questioned and the suspected dealer was in possession of marijuana and several prescription medications. The suspected dealer was placed under arrest for possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, and possession of a class B substance.
Assault
Occurred 12:37PM (3/2) – 278 Washington St.
Police responded to a report of assault on a town parking enforcement officer. The victim stated that she was issuing a ticket for an expired meter violation when the vehicle’s owner approached her, upset about the ticket. The owner proceeded to throw her coffee at the parking enforcement officer. When the victim contacted police dispatch, the owner fled the scene. The vehicle and the owner were later located, identified, and arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a public employee.
Fraud
Occurred between 12:22PM (1/17) and 12:22PM (3/2) – Harvard Ave.
Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim had been notified that her Capital One credit card was fraudulently used at a gas station in New Jersey. Along with this charge, there were also two additional charges made in Maryland. Police are following up on the case.
Larceny
Occurred between 3:00PM and 5:00PM (3/1) – 115 Greenough St.
Police responded to a report of larceny at the gym at Brookline High School. Two students stated their Northface jackets to be missing after a volleyball game. Police are following up on the case.
Occurred between 2:50PM and 4:40PM (3/2) – Tappan St.
Victim reported to police that her jacket, containing her wallet and other valuables, was stolen from the Brookline High School gym. Police are following up on the case.
Occurred between 12:00PM (1/27) and 12:00PM (2/25) – Cary Rd.
Police responded to a report of a past larceny. The complainant stated that home healthcare workers have been caring for her father in his home. Over the past few weeks they have noticed that numerous items are missing from the house. Police are following up on the case.
Occurred between 11:30PM (3/1) and 5:20PM (3/2) – Regent Cr.
Police responded to a report of larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she noticed that her vehicle’s glove box and center console were open. The items that were missing were money that had been located in the ashtray, a roll of quarters, and several gift cards. Police are following up on the case.

March 1st
Arrest
- Occurred 8:33PM (2/28) –
Police executed a traffic stop for a driving violation. Upon identifying the driver, it was discovered that her driver’s license was suspended. The officers also noticed the vehicle she was driving had an expired inspection sticker. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest.
- Occurred 10:27PM (2/28) –
Police performed a traffic stop for defective equipment. The driver stated that he currently did not have a license but had in the past. Officers confirmed that the driver’s license had actually been revoked. He was subsequently arrested for operating after revocation.
Larceny
- Occurred between 9:00AM and 2:00PM (2/28) –
Police responded to a report of fraud. The victim stated that she was contacted over Facebook by an old friend who claimed that he was in

Victim reported to police that his Brookline Bank account had several unauthorized charges. The charges were made in

Victim reported to police that there were unauthorized charges made to his Sovereign Bank debit account. There were a total of eight fraudulent charges. Police are following up on the case.
Larceny
- Occurred between 11:00PM (2/25) and 8:11AM (2/26) –
Police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that when she woke up this morning, she found that the windshield wipers on her car were missing. Police are following up on the case.
- Occurred between 5:00PM and 5:15PM (2/25) –
Victim reported to police that while shopping in TJ Maxx, several items were removed from her purse. She stated that her Gucci wallet was missing, containing numerous credit cards and money. Police are following up on the case.
- Occurred between 11:00AM and 11:50AM (2/27) –
Police responded to a local fashion store for a reported shoplifting. The complainant stated that she noticed a thin white female, approximately 5’5” with long dark hair, enter a dressing room with a designer jacket. The suspect left the store without purchasing anything and the complainant realized that her inventory was less one jacket. Police are following up on the case.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that she noticed her sunglasses and purse were missing from her car. Police are following up on the case.
Burglary
- Occurred between 12:00PM and 8:15PM (2/27) –
Police responded to a report of a burglary. The caller stated that he was watching his brother-in-law’s house while they were on vacation. He and his wife left for a few hours and upon return, noticed that the side door to the house was ajar and a window was open. When he went upstairs, he noticed that all the bedrooms were in disarray. Police are following up on the case.
