October 30th 2008 Police Reports

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 12:00AM (10/29) and 7:00PM (10/29) – 224 Washington St

Victim reported that upon returning to his parked vehicle he observed that the passenger side of the vehicle had been keyed. There was also another key mark on the hood of the car that was done earlier in the month while parked at the same location.

Found Property

  • Occurred at 9:57AM (10/30) – 110 Babcock St

A bicycle was retrieve by officers after it was found abandoned on Gibbs St. For retrieval please contact the Brookline Police Department.

October 29th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred at 1:44PM (10/29) – 1415 Beacon St

Victim reported that after returning to his parked vehicle he observed that his red Tour 22 backpack which contained his Apple Power Book Laptop, Canon digital camera, several stipend checks and some pictures, was missing. The vehicle had been left unlocked. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 9:00AM (10/07) and 5:00PM (10/14) – 7 Fairway Rd

Victim reports that upon returning home he observed that several items were missing. An antique surgical sterilizer was stolen from the living room wall as well as an antique copper tray from a table located in the same room. The only people who had access to the house were several construction workers who were working on the roof. A follow up investigation is being conducted.

Graffiti

  • Occurred at 6:52AM (10/29) – 60 Glen Rd

Reporting party states that as she was walking along Pond Ave she observed graffiti written on a door facing Glen Rd. There was one tag written in green paint on the door with a smaller tag painted in blue paint to the right of the door on the wall.

October 28th 2008 Police Report

Breaking and Entering/ Larceny MV

  • Occurred between 4:00PM (10/28) and 6:30PM (10/28) – Hawes St/ Colchester St

Victim reported that upon returning to her parked vehicle she observed that her passenger side window had been smashed. She noticed that her Apple I-Pod which was located on her front passenger seat was missing. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 2:30PM (10/28) and 3:15PM (10/28) – 10 Browne St

Victim reported that upon returning to his vehicle he observed that his passenger side window had been smashed and noticed that his Garmin GPS Unit that was mounted on his front window was missing.

  • Occurred between 6:30PM (10/27) and 10:00AM (10/28) – 130 Clyde St

Victim reported that sometime overnight someone had entered her vehicle which was parked in her driveway. Victim observed various papers and items moved around the inside of her vehicle but nothing appeared to be missing. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 2:06PM (10/28) – 294 Harvard St (CVS)

Officers on patrol stopped an individual who matched the description of a shoplifting suspect from a CVS. After being positively identified by store employees the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with larceny over $200.

Found Property

  • Occurred at 8:05AM (10/28) – St Paul St/ Aspinwall Ave

Police retrieved a bicycle that was left abandoned outside the Saint Paul Church of Christ. For retrieval please contact the Brookline Police Department.

October 27th 2008 Police Reports

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 10:00PM (10/27) and 10:05PM (10/27) – Goddard Ave/ Rockwood Ave

Victim reports that as she was standing in her driveway she heard a “popping” sound and observed a man flee from the front of her home. Victim observed that her fence which had several political signs on it had been egged. The suspect is described as a white male, thin, in his early 20’s, wearing light blue jeans, brown loafers and a khaki trench coat.

Larceny

  • Occurred at 8:42PM (10/27) – 1322 Beacon St (CVS)

Police officers were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting that had just taken place. Upon arrival police met with store employees who reported that a male individual placed two cartons of Newport Menthol 100 cigarettes valued at $52.00 each in his jacket before fleeing the store. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'3", bald, wearing a dark gray jacket, with a gray hooded sweatshirt with black lettering, dark blue jeans and glasses.

Arson

  • Occurred between 12:43PM (10/27) – 150 Fisher Ave

Police were dispatch to a report of a motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival police met with the owner of the vehicle who notified officials that the fire was within the passenger compartment. Fire officials were able to put out the fire and a follow –up investigation is being conducted.

October 24th – 26th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred between 12:00PM (10/22) and 12:00PM (10/25) – 11 Park St

Victim reports that he had parked his vehicle at a parking lot on Park Vale. Upon returning to his vehicle he observed that someone had used a jack and stole both tires from the driver’s side of his vehicle.

  • Occurred between 3:00PM (10/24) and 10:00PM (10/24) – 227 Babcock St

Victim reports that upon returning to her vehicle she observed that three bags of clothing and linens, and the face – plate to her radio had been stolen. The vehicle had been left unlocked. The total value of missing items is $700.

  • Occurred between 2:30PM (10/24) and 3:00PM (10/25) – 1211 Beacon St

Victim reports that she had locked her bicycle to an iron fence in front of her residential building. Upon returning to retrieve her bicycle she observed that it was missing. The bike lock was located on the ground and appeared to have been cut. The bike is described as a girl’s orange Hot Rock bicycle valued at $280.

  • Occurred between 3:30PM (10/24) and 5:30 PM (10/24) – 599 Brookline Ave

Victim reports that he had parked his bicycle against a fence during his soccer practice. Upon returning to retrieve his bicycle he observed that it was missing. The bicycle had been left unsecured. The bike is described as a boys black Gary Fisher mountain bike. Also stolen was a female’s bicycle that was parked in the same field.

  • Occurred between 2:00PM (10/25) and 2:07PM (10/25) – 1000 Boylston St

Victim reports that he observed that his GPS unit along with his Nike “Shock” sneakers had been stolen from his Allied moving van. The vehicle was parked in his driveway.

  • Occurred at 6:42PM (9/22) – 59 Manchester St

Victim reports that he had received his credit card statement from his bank and discovered that there were seven unauthorized cashing of checks in his account. Victim stated that when he receives his statements there is always a number of "access checks" attached to the statement. Victim states that these types of checks may have been stolen from his mailbox. The total amount of transactions made to his account is over $8000.

  • Occurred between 3:30PM (10/03) and 5:30PM (10/03) – 115 Greenough St

Police were dispatched to Brookline High School where there were various reports of student’s cell phones that had been stolen. Students reported that their cell phones had been taken from their lockers located in the boy’s football locker room. A total of four phones and cash were taken from various lockers.

  • Occurred between 3:30 PM (10/15) and 8:34AM (10/21) – 27 Francis St

Officers were dispatched to Lawrence School for a report of six laptops that had been stolen early in the week. School officials’ reported that four Apple Mac Book Laptops each valued at $900 and two Apple I Books valued at $600 were missing. Each laptop has a number written in the right hand corner with black magic marker.

  • Occurred between 4:00PM (10/25) and 7:00AM (10/26) – 1060 Beacon St

Victim reports that sometime overnight someone had smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle. He observed that his satellite radio receiver had been stolen. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 3:10PM (10/24) and 3:30 (10/24) – John St/ Babcock St

Victim reports that upon returning to his parked vehicle he observed that his front passenger window had been smashed. He observed that his Garmen GPS unit with power cord and his I-Pod holder had been stolen.

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 9:00PM (10/25) and 9:27PM (10/25) – 100 Francis St

Victim reports that he heard people running down his driveway and after going out to his parking lot he found that the rear window of his vehicle had been smashed. Nothing appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 8:00AM (10/24) and 12:00PM (10/24) – 111 Cypress St

Victim reports that after returning to her parked vehicle she observed that her rear passenger side window had been smashed. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 9:40AM (10/25) – 81 Boylston St

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. After stopping the driver further investigation revealed that the driver’s license had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest for operating after suspension and given a citation for red light violation.

  • Occurred at 2:34AM (10/25) – Hammond Pond Pk/ Heath St

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle traveling with a defective front headlight. After stopping the vehicle further investigation revealed that driver’s license had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred at 8:27AM (10/24) – 32 Hammond Pond Pk

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle after it failed to stop at a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that the driver was not duly licensed. The driver was placed under arrest.

Burglary

  • Occurred between 9:16AM (10/25) and 4:30AM (10/26) – 265 Boylston St

Employees reported that sometime overnight someone had broken into the Dunkin Donuts on Boylston St. Employees observed that the front door was slightly open when they came into work and found that the office door had been pried opened. Missing was $600 in cash and $600 in assorted change that was left unsecured in the office.

October 23rd 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred at 1:33PM (10/23) – 1309 Beacon St

Victim reported that while food shopping at Trader Joes she noticed that her wallet was missing. The wallet contained several cards, a gold chain valued at $100 and $250 in cash.

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred at 12:19PM (10/23) – 0 Pearl St

Reporting party states that while walking down a street he observed damage done to a vehicle parked at a meter. Upon arrival police observed that the vehicle’s rear driver’s side window had been smashed. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 4:28PM (10/13) – 829 Beacon St

An officer on patrol observed a male individual run into his car and drive erratically away almost colliding with a bus. After stopping the vehicle police were informed that the driver was trying to get away from another individual who was chasing him. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of an illegal substance and was placed under arrest. The second suspect who was pursuing the driver could not be located.

October 22nd Police Reports

Attempted MV Theft

  • Occurred between 7:30PM (10/22) and 10:10PM (10/22) – 1773 Beacon St

Victim reports that upon returning to her parked vehicle she noticed that her remote unlocking device would not work. Upon inspecting the vehicle she observed that the steering wheel column had been damaged and found the ignition hanging from the column. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.

Graffiti

  • Occurred between 7:00PM (10/21) and 8:00AM (10/22) – 73 Windsor RD

Reporting party states that she observed that someone had spray painted a black light box next to her driveway. The light box had white spray paint on the front and rear of the box. On the front was the word “Alka” and on the rear was the number “60”.

  • Occurred at 12:17AM (10/22) – 599 Brookline Ave

An officer on patrol conducting a building check of the Lynch Recreation Center observed inappropriate writing spray painted on a shed located at the rear of the building. The graffiti was done in 12 inch black lettering spread across the side of the shed.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 11:30PM (10/21) and 7:15AM (10/22) – 201 Harvard St

Victim reported that upon returning to his parked vehicle he observed that his passenger side window had been smashed and that several items had been taken. Items missing included a Garmin GPS Unit, an I –Pod, a large CD holder containing 150 CDs, and a duffel bag containing soccer clothes and a pair of cleats.

October 21st 2008 Police Reports

Graffiti

  • Occurred at 9:59PM (10/21) – 972 Commonwealth Ave

Reporting party states that sometime over the past weekend someone had tagged his two buildings on Commonwealth Ave with graffiti. One of the buildings had the tag “Elbos” sprayed painted on a side wall with green spray paint. The second building had the tags “Elbos” and “News” spray painted on its rear wall using green paint.

Larceny

  • Occurred at 4:04PM (10/21) – 525 Harvard St

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shoplifter being detained at a TJ Maxx. Upon arrival officers spoke with loss prevention officers who stated that the suspect was seen taking two bottles of perfume and sticking them in his jacket pocket. A criminal check of the suspect revealed he had two warrants. He was placed under arrest for shoplifting and for the two warrants.

  • Occurred between 7:29PM (09/16) and 8:55PM (9/16) – 2000 Beacon St

Police were dispatched to a report of a past larceny. Police met with a suspect who reported that he and a friend had withdrawn money from someone else’s bank account using an ATM card that was left at ATM machine. Further investigation revealed that the suspects had taken out a total of $460 and had tried multiple times to use the card again. The suspects were placed under arrest and charged with larceny over $250, larceny under $250, and three counts of attempted larceny

Victim reported that upon returning to his company vehicle which he had parked alongside the road he observed that his driver’s side window had been smashed. He noticed that his GPS unit, two computers, a digital camera, and a black leather jacket had been stolen.

October 17th – 20th Police Reports

Breaking and Entering/ Larceny MV

  • Occurred between 9:00PM (10/20) and 9:30PM (10/20) – 2 Brookline Pl

Victim reports that he had parked his taxi cab at a cab stand and had left for approximately 30 minutes. Upon returning to his vehicle he observed that his wallet was missing from his front seat. The cab had been left unlocked. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 6:00PM (10/20) and 8:20PM (10/20) – 131 Kent St

Victim reports that he had parked his vehicle in front of his friend’s house and upon returning to it he observed that his passenger side window had been smashed. He noticed that his Garmin GPS unit valued at $400 was missing.

  • Occurred between 7:00PM (10/19) and 8:30PM (10/19) – 54 Alton Pl

Victim reports that upon returning to his rental vehicle he observed that the front passenger side window had been smashed and that his Garmin GPS unit had been stolen.

  • Occurred at 12:40AM (10/17) – 724 Washington St

Victim reported that upon returning to his vehicle he observed that his front passenger side window had been smashed and that his GPS unit was missing. Nothing else appeared to have been taken from the vehicle.

Arrest

  • Occurred between 4:30PM (10/20) and 5:30PM (10/20) – 1322 Beacon St

Police on patrol stopped several individuals matching the description of suspects seen shoplifting large amounts of candy and other products from a CVS. After stopping the suspects’ police recovered various stolen items and arrested 9 suspects and charged them with larceny.

  • Occurred at 2:52AM (10/19) – Harvard St/ Babcock St

An officer on patrol observed two vehicles pulled off to the side of a road as a result of a minor car accident. After meeting with the driver who caused the accident further investigation revealed that the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred at 3:38AM (10/18) – 1114 Commonwealth Ave

An officer on patrol stopped an individual who was acting suspiciously. During questioning the individual became agitated and aggressive towards the officer. After attempting to hit the officer the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with assaulting the officer.

  • Occurred at 2:52AM (10/18) – 121 Sewall Ave

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling erratically at excessive speed. After stopping the vehicle further investigation revealed that the driver was operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred at 1:16AM (10/18) – 1025 Boylston St

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the driver the officer observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and observed several opened containers of alcohol. Further investigation revealed that the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 11:00AM (10/18) and 1:20AM (10/19) – 157 Thorndike St

Police were dispatched to a report of a larceny. Upon arrival police met with residents who stated that during a party they were hosting several items had been taken from their apartment. They reported that several attendees found that their wallets had gone missing from their coats that had been placed in their storage room. Missing items included an Apple Mac Laptop, and I–Pod Touch, 3 cell phones, 3 wallets, and a digital camera.

  • Occurred between 2:00PM (9/01) and 1:00PM (10/17) – 33 Pond Ave

Victim reported that he had locked his bicycle to a rack on Pond Ave and upon returning to retrieve it he observed that it was missing. The bike is described as a silver 10 speed “Cadillac” brand bike. The bicycle has new mud guards and a gear viewer on the handlebars.

  • Occurred at 12:15AM – 1676 Beacon St

Store owners reported that an individual had entered their beauty salon and fled after taking $30 from a drawer underneath their front counter. The suspect is described as a white, middle aged, stocky built man with short blonde hair, 5’11”, wearing a light blue sweatshirt and a pair of dark blue Khaki pants.

Graffiti Law

  • Occurred between 5:00PM (10/17) and 8:00AM (10/20) – 1032 Commonwealth Ave

Reporting party states that upon arriving to work in the morning she observed graffiti spray painted alongside her building. The building was tagged twice with green spray paint.

  • Occurred at 8:51AM (10/19) – Gibbs St/ Naples Rd

Police responded to a report of graffiti written on a sidewalk. Upon arrival police observed an inappropriate image drawn on the sidewalk with profanity written above it. It appeared that the graffiti was done using white household latex paint that was found discarded in a nearby trash receptacle.

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 11:00PM (11/19) and 2:02AM (10/20) – 144 Boylston St

Victim reports that upon returning to his vehicle he observed that his driver’s side front window had been smashed. Nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing from the vehicle.

Burglary

  • Occurred at 4:30AM (10/19) – 12 Littell Rd

Police were dispatched to a report of a breaking and entering that had just occurred. An investigation revealed that the victims were able to obtain the names of the subjects who had broken into their home. Police were able to obtain one subject who was positively identified and arrested. He is being charged with breaking and entering in the night with the intent to commit a felony and possession of Class E substance.

  • Occurred between 8:32PM (10/15) and 11:00AM (10/16) – 50 Columbia St

Victims reported that upon returning to their new home they observed that their plasma television that was on their living room floor had been stolen. The house had been left secured and the contractors who were doing construction were the only ones that had access to their home. A follow up investigation is underway.

  • Occurred between 12:01AM (10/17) and 12:30AM (10/17) – 10 Goddard St

Victim reported that sometime overnight she heard a noise come from her basement and in the morning she observed that the dead bolt to her basement door had been unlocked. She found a silver pick between the basement door and screen door. Nothing appeared to be out of place.

October 16th 2008 Police Reports

Arrest

  • Occurred at 8:17AM (10/16) – Lagrange St/ Princeton Rd

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred between 11:25AM (10/16) – 284 Harvard St

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle after the driver took an illegal U- turn. Further investigation revealed that the driver was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and that the driver had three default warrants. The driver was placed under arrest.

Found Property

  • Occurred at 2:00PM (10/16) – 1477 Beacon St

A girls bicycle was removed from a pole at 1477 Beacon St by the Department of Public Works. For retrieval please contact the Brookline Police Department.

October 15th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred between 1:30PM (10/15) and 10:00PM (10/15) – 375 Pond Ave

Victim reports that upon returning to her vehicle she observed that her interior lights were on and that her trunk was slightly open. Victim noticed that a jewelry box containing cosmetic jewelry was taken from the trunk, along with a tote bag from the passenger compartment. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

  • Occurred between 8:00PM (10/09) and 7:30AM (10/10) – 64 White Pl

Victim reported that he observed that his son’s bike which was parked and locked up to a tree in his front yard was missing. The bike is described as a men’s blue Trek bicycle.

October 14th Police Reports

Attempted Breaking and Entering/ Larceny MV

  • Occurred between 7:35PM (10/14) and 7:43PM (10/14) – Rice St/ Cypress St

Victim reports that as she was exiting her home she observed a black male attempting to open the car doors of three vehicles parked on Rice St. After the suspect saw her he fled into an alley behind Rice St. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’1”, with a skinny built, wearing a white shirt, dark pants and a dark colored baseball cap. Suspect was not located.

  • Occurred between 11:50AM (10/14) and 12:18PM (10/14) – 1405 Beacon St

Victim reported that upon returning to his vehicle he observed that the rear window had been smashed. Victim noticed that his black bag which contained a Dell laptop and a Casio digital camera was missing. Nothing else appeared to be disturbed in the vehicle.

Larceny


  • Occurred between 1:50PM (10/10) and 2:20PM (10/10) – 115 Greenough St

Victim reported that she had gone to her locker at Brookline High School to retrieve her backpack when she discovered it was missing. The locker had been closed shut but was left unsecured. The backpack contained a calculator, two notebooks and several school books.


  • Occurred between 12:00PM (10/08) and 11:03AM (10/14) – 50 Fernwood Rd

Reporting party states that he observed that someone had stolen three 8’ sections of copper down spouts from the rear of a home he cares for and one 12’ section of copper down spouts from the front of the house.

Arrest

  • Occurred between 5:00PM (10/14) and 5:02PM (10/14) – 1418 Beacon St

Police on patrol stopped an individual who matched the description of a suspect who had just shoplifted from Bay State Foods. After being positively identified by store officials’ police were able to retrieve the stolen item from the suspect and he was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

Assault

  • Occurred between 3:24PM (10/14) and 4:00PM (10/14) – Fuller St

Police responded to a report of a dispute. After arriving on scene police met with one party who reported that he and a worker who installs his windows got into a heated argument that became physical. Both parties will be summoned to court for assault and battery.

October 10th - 13th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred 3:00PM (10/11) and 7:38PM (10/13) – 73 Egmont St

Victim reports that her bicycle which she locked to the railing of her rear stairwell of her apartment had been stolen. The bike is described as a blue and gray BMX style bike with the letter “X” written on the seat and crossbar. The bicycle is valued at $200.

  • Occurred between 10:00AM (10/13) and 3:30PM (10/13) – 1 Beaconsfield Lot

Victim reports that he had parked and locked his bicycle to a pole at the Beaconsfield T – stop and upon returning to retrieve it he observed that it was missing. The bike is described as a red Carrera boy’s bicycle. The bicycle has a black seat with a yellow stripe and handlebars that are flipped back.

  • Occurred between 3:00PM (10/02) and 7:00PM (10/02) – 115 Greenough St

Victim reports that he had left $60 in his school locker inside the boy’s gym locker room. Upon returning to retrieve it he observed that it was missing. The locker had been left unlocked.

  • Occurred at 4:00PM (10/08) – 335 Washington St

Victim reports that she was in the “Teen Room” of the basement at the main public library located on Washington St. She was seated on the floor when she got up to use a computer leaving her cell phone. Upon returning she observed that her cell phone was missing and did not notice any suspicious behavior.

Assault

  • Occurred at 6:09PM (10/12) – Walnut St/ High St

Police were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival police separated and met with both parties who stated that after a verbal confrontation they became physical towards one another. Both parties will be summonsed to court on a count of assault and battery.

  • Occurred at 4:25PM (10/12) and 4:58PM (10/12) – 1450 Beacon St

Police were dispatched to the Coolidge Corner area along Beacon St for a report of an indecent exposure. The suspect is described as a middle aged white man with brown shaggy hair, wearing dark glasses, a tan corduroy jacket, navy sweatpants, and a tan hat. Suspect was not located.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 10:52AM (10/13) – Independence Dr/ Sherman Rd

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle swerving in and out of lanes at excessive speed. Upon stopping the driver further investigation revealed that he was not duly licensed. The driver was placed under arrest for not being duly licensed and was given a citation for weaving and speeding.

  • Occurred at 11:00PM (10/11) – 230 Babcock St

Police were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival police met with several parties who stated that the fight was just a disagreement amongst friends. Further investigation revealed that one party had an active warrant and was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred between 3:23PM (10/13) and 3:27PM (10/13) – 1336 Beacon St

Police on patrol stopped an individual who matched the description of a suspect who was behaving in a disorderly manner and who had attempted to grab a woman inappropriately on the street. After being identified the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with attempting to commit a crime, disorderly conduct, carrying a dangerous weapon, and possession of class E drug.

  • Occurred between 5:13PM (10/11) – 55 Beals St

Police were dispatched to a report of a dispute. Upon arrival police meet with a reporting party who states that he was engaged in a dispute with a fellow resident when it became physical and a knife was shown. Victim reports that she had parked her motor vehicle in her driveway early in the morning and upon returning to it in the afternoon she observed that her front passenger window had been smashed. She noticed that her Coach handbag was missing from her front seat. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

Arson

  • Occurred at 11:20PM (10/10) – Pond Ave/ Highland St

Police were dispatched to a report of a car that was on fire. After arriving on scene police were notified by fire officials that it appeared that an accelerant had been used to ignite the car and found burnt newspaper debris around the area. The car appeared to be vacant and a follow –up investigation is being conducted.

Victim reports that upon returning home from work she observed that one of her large decorative pineapples from her front steps had been stolen. The decorative piece is valued at $400.

October 7th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred between 4:00PM (10/07) and 5:00PM (10/07) – 209 Harvard St

Victim reports that he had locked his bicycle to a parking meter on Harvard Street. Upon returning to retrieve his bicycle he observed that both his bicycle and lock were missing. The bicycle is described as a Bridgestone 21 speed men’s bike valued at $500.

  • Occurred at 9:55AM (10/07) – 1322 Beacon St (CVS)

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. Officers on patrol stopped three individuals matching the description of suspects who had taken large amounts of packaged candy from a CVS. Officers recovered the stolen material and placed the suspects under arrest. Allegedly this is the second time the suspects have shoplifted from this location.

O.U.I.L

  • Occurred between 8:07PM (10/07) and 10:40PM (10/07) – Brookline Ave/ Aspinwall

Officers were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival police met with one of the drivers who had struck a parked vehicle before crossing over the double yellow lines and engaging in a head on collision with another vehicle. Further investigation revealed that there were several bottles of alcohol containers found in the driver’s vehicle. The driver will be summoned to court for operating under the influence of alcohol, driving to endanger, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

October 6th 2008 Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred between 8:30AM (10/06) and 7:45PM (10/06) – 155 Naples St

Victim reports that upon returning home he observed that his bedroom door was slightly open and that his Mac laptop was missing from his room. Victim states that the apartment door had been left unlocked and that nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred at 11:59AM (10/06) – 1309 Beacon St

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival further investigation revealed that the suspect had placed two bottles of wine valued each at $65.99 into a plastic bag and had attempted to flee the store. Suspect will be summoned to court on two counts of shoplifting.

  • Occurred between 7:00PM (10/05) and 9:30AM (10/06) – 91 Verndale St

Victim reported that he had left his bicycle unlocked, parked at the rear of his home. When he went to retrieve his bicycle he observed that it was missing. The bicycle is described as a black Hardrock mountain bike with multiple stickers on it.

  • Occurred between 8:53AM (9/27) and 8:53AM (10/06) – 77 Perry St

Reporting party states that she noticed that her son’s bike was missing from their backyard. The bike is described as a purple Trek boy’s bike valued at $80.

Burglary

  • Occurred between 9:00AM (10/06) and 5:45PM (10/06) – 223 Gerry St

Victim reports that upon returning home she observed that her Lenovo ThinkPad laptop was missing from her desk in her kid’s bedroom. Victim states that she had left her rear apartment door unlocked. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

Graffiti Law

  • Occurred between 3:00PM (10/05) and 8:30AM (10/06) – 420 Harvard St

Reporting party states that he discovered graffiti spray painted on the side of his building located at the intersection of Harvard St and Fuller St. The graffiti read “Nova” and was written in red spray paint.

  • Occurred between 5:00PM (10/03) and 10:14PM (10/06) – 205 Beverly Rd

A Baker School Custodian reported that someone had tagged several areas of the school building with graffiti. The first tag was an inappropriate image drawn on the rear of the building in black paint. The second tag read “Reg One” and was written in metallic silver paint with a gold star painted next to it.

Breaking and Entering MV

  • Occurred between 3:30PM (10/05) and 7:48AM (10/06) – 159 St Paul St

Victim reported that upon returning to her vehicle in the morning she observed that someone had gone through her vehicle and taken several items. Missing items included a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, a brown Eddie Bauer suede woman’s jacket and $10 in quarters. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

October 3rd - 5th 2008 Police Reports

Arrest

  • Occurred at 2:17AM (10/05) – Pleasant St/ Thatcher St

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a default warrant and was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He was placed under arrest.

  • Occurred at 12:53AM (10/04) – 1477 Beacon St

Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at a MBTA station platform. Upon arrival police observed several parties flee the scene. After stopping one suspect further investigation revealed that he was in possession of an illegal substance and was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a class D substance.

  • Occurred at 11:52AM (10/03) – Dummer St/ Essex St

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling down a restricted area and nearly hit an officer directing traffic. After stopping the vehicle further investigation revealed that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with operating to endanger and operating after suspension.

  • Occurred at 5:00PM (10/05) – Essex/ Commonwealth

Officers on patrol stopped two individuals who fit the description of two suspects who had just robbed a 7-11. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects was in possession of a firearm. Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with armed robbery. The crime occurred in Boston and the subjects were turned over to the Boston Police Department.

Victim reports that he had parked his rental vehicle in his assigned spot in his parking lot. Upon returning to his vehicle he observed that his driver’s side front window had been smashed. Victim states that his Gamin GPS, Apple laptop computer and a pair of sunglasses were missing.

Burglary

  • Occurred between 10:30PM (10/03) and 11:25PM (10/03) – 73 Verndale St

Victim reported that upon returning to his apartment he observed that his window screen had been ripped and that his bedroom window was fully opened. Victim noticed that his black backpack that contained his Cannon 5D camera, 3 camera lenses, a flash, and his medication was missing. His Apple G4 power book and his ESP guitar were also stolen from bedroom.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 11:45AM (10/03) and 2:20PM (10/03) – 1306 Beacon St

Victim reports that she was dining at a restaurant when she observed that her wallet was missing from her bag. Her bag had been placed on the rear of her chair during her dining. Victim states that she might have left it on the counter when she paid for her meal. The wallet contained various cards and identification papers.

October 2nd 2008 Police Reports

Breaking and Entering/ Larceny MV

  • Occurred between 7:00PM (10/01) and 7:18AM (10/02) – 210 Rangeley Rd

Victim reported that sometime overnight someone smashed the front passenger side window of his motor vehicle and took his wallet from his on his front seat. The wallet contained personal papers and several cards. Nothing else appeared to be missing.

  • Occurred between 7:00PM (10/01) and 7:00AM (10/02) – 132 Beverly Rd

Victim reported that sometime overnight someone had entered both her and husband’s vehicles that were parked in their driveway. Victim states that both vehicles were left unlocked. She noticed that her I-pod and black ladies Coach Bag were missing from her vehicle. An I-pod was also taken from her husband’s vehicle.

Found Property

  • Occurred at 9:55AM (10/02) – 1440 Beacon St

A men’s bicycle was removed from a pole at 1440 Beacon St by the Department of Public Works. For retrieval please contact the Brookline Police Department.

Larceny

  • Occurred between 9:00AM (9/18) and 10:10AM (10/02) – 1281 W Rox RK

Reporting party states that she noticed that the two Pepsi machines located in front of the Starter’s building each had approximately $200 in cash missing. There were also 7 cases of soda and 3 cases of Gatorade missing from each machine. It was observed that the machines were opened using a “remote” key. There were no signs of damage done to the machine.

  • Occurred between 8:30AM ( 10/02) and 2:50PM (10/02) – 115 Greenough St

Victim states that he had locked his bicycle to a pole at Brookline High School. When he returned to retrieve his bicycle he observed it was missing and found the bike locks discarded on the ground. The bike is described as a dark men’s Trek mountain bike valued at $400.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 10:10PM (10/02) – Boylston St/ Hedge Rd

A police officer on patrol observed a vehicle weaving between lanes at excessive speed. After stopping the vehicle further investigation revealed that the driver’s right to operate a motor vehicle had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with operating after suspension.

Liquor Violation

  • Occurred at 11:57PM (10/02) – 68 Egmont St

Police responded to a report of a loud party complaint. After arriving on scene police observed multiple bottles of alcoholic beverages around the apartment. Further investigation revealed that the tenants were all under the age of 21. They will be summoned to court for minor possession of alcohol, procuring alcohol and disturbing the peace.

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 11:00PM (9/30) and 8:46AM (10/01) – 135 Warren St

Victim reported that sometime during the late evening her storm door window of her home had been broken. Police officers observed that the door was still locked and there was no sign of forced entry.

Breaking and Entering/ Larceny MV

  • Occurred between 3:30PM (9/30) and 8:45AM (10/01) – 80 Toxteth St

Victim reported that he had left his work vehicle on the side of the street at his work site. After leaving his job site he observed that his T – Mobile Sidekick cell phone valued at $250 and his blue Nikon Digital Camera valued at $300 were missing. Victim states that he had left his vehicle unlocked.

Found Property

  • Occurred between 6:45PM (10/01) and 7:30PM (10/01) – Chestnut St

A bicycle was found discarded in front of a house. The bike was found with its front wheel locked to its frame. It had been left unattended for a few days. For retrieval please contact the Brookline Police Department at (617) 730- 2786.

Arrest

  • Occurred at 1:40AM (10/01) – Commonwealth Ave/ St Mary St

A police officer on patrol pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of illegal substances. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A substance, 2 counts of possession of a Class E substance, operating without a license and unsafe lane change.

September 30th Police Reports

Larceny

  • Occurred at 3:25PM (9/29) – 115 Greenough St

Victim reports that she is a member of the Brookline High School cross country team and while at practice her backpack had been stolen. She states that the team leaves their backpacks in a pile at Cypress Field while they practice. Her backpack contained several schoolbooks, a Sidekick cell phone valued at $200, an I-pod Nano valued at $250 and a set of keys.

Malicious Damage

  • Occurred between 1:00PM (9/29) and 4:30PM (9/29) – Davis Ave/ Emerson St

Victim reported that upon returning to his parked vehicle he observed written on his hood “kill environment”. It appears that the words were written in white sharpie pen.
